With the recent communication from the Cycling Federation that requires a stop to competitions until June 1st, the opportunity to regularly play the second (which has become the first) stage of the Superenduro 2020 Circuit, namely that of Punta Ala, scheduled for the 16/17 May.
The possibility of recovering this stage in October or even November is unfortunately quite remote and the reasons are many. It is useless to hide that the climate of total uncertainty that also envelops the summer tourist season makes it impossible to make any logistical / organizational and not least economic planning and for this reason we reluctantly find ourselves in concert with the local organization to have to definitively cancel it.
“The situation is really complex and requires caution from all points of view. To date, planning a competition in 2020 is really risky and we cannot afford leaps in the dark. We asked for the postponement of the numerous sports competitions that PuntAla Camp & Resort hosts this season to 2021 or 2022, certain of being able to push and promote the various activities again, but in a decidedly more serene atmosphere for everyone. We would like to underline that we will reimburse bookings with an ad hoc policy, meeting everyone as much as possible ”by chiara Thomas Daddi responsible for PuntAla Camp & Resort.
In such a particular year, one could also have imagined a 3-stage circuit, starting at Abetone at the end of June as scheduled. However, allow us a dutiful reasoning of responsibility, which for several days has conditioned our vision of things.
We know how strong is the desire and the desire shared by all of us to leave the house and return to the saddle of our mountain bike for a race weekend with friends, however what would the spirit be? The Covid-19 virus will be around for a long time yet and we should probably learn to live with it, waiting for the vaccine or the cure. With this in mind, it seems decidedly premature and imprudent to gather people from all over Italy as early as June, a few weeks after the peak of one of the largest epidemics that has hit our country and the whole world.
Moreover, with the return to normal or perhaps it would be better to say to the "new normal", we will all need a period to find our personal dimension and condition, not just physical. Many of us will have complex situations to handle and this will take time.
Following these considerations and by mutual agreement with all the locations and our partners with whom we have found total agreement and received the maximum availability, we have decided to cancel the 2020 Superenduro Circuit season, therefore including the Italian races valid as EWS Qualifier and the European Series.
If and only if the conditions permit, the Superenduro will be able to make an appointment with whoever wants and feels like it in La Thuile in August (22/23) and/or in Pietra Ligure in October (10/11), for what could be a day Of riding all together and at that point maybe for the first time we the staff too will be with you dressed for cycling to celebrate your return to the saddle!
