On 7/8 May the Superenduro powered by SRAM moves to Liguria and precisely to Varazze, where the second stage of the 2016 season will start.
The resort well known for seaside tourism and for being one of the best Italian surf spots that can also be practiced at night, actually a few kilometers inland hides some of the most beautiful mountains in the region, kept within the most vast protected area of Liguria, the Monte Beigua Geopark.
Due to its beauty and uniqueness, this place has been recognized as a UNESCO site since November 2015 and included in the prestigious list of Global Geoparks (UNESCO Global Geoparks).
A very important resource for the territory and for all the bikers in the area, such as the crews "Beigua Insane Tribù" and "Those who pedal at the foot of the Beigua", who for several years have been constantly working on cleaning and restoring the paths that have meters of altitude go down to sea level through coniferous, beech and chestnut forests in the mountains and Mediterranean scrub in the most coastal area.
"The Superenduro is the best event we could host" declares Marco D'Aliesio President of Vaze Free Time, "it allows us to enhance our territory 100% by hosting the paddock area by the sea in the town of Varazze and the departure of the special at the top of the mountains in a unique setting. This is our strong point and it is what we want Superenduro riders to touch with hand ”.
The Varazze Superenduro powered by SRAM will be a demanding race from several points of view.
4 special stages, for a total length of 47 km of competition and 1850 meters of elevation gain.
Many athletes know the Ligurian territory and its pitfalls. Over the course of the race day, completely different environments will be crossed and, above all, the tires will rest on practically every possible terrain. We will pass from the softest, earthy and coolest environment of prairie and mountain undergrowth, to the typical rocky and dry sections of the most coastal area with technical passages characteristic of this region.
Precisely for this diversity and heterogeneity of the territory that bikers will have to face within the same day of competition, the choice of the setting of the vehicle, but also the strategy and management of their energies, will be crucial to bring home a good result. .
There are several riders in shape this season, not least the newly graduated Italian Champions Vittorio Gambirasio and Laura Rossin to whom we renew our congratulations. Who knows if here in Varazze, between sea and mountains and with such a different race compared to Massa Marittima and Sestri Levante, we will see the same values on the pitch.
The first appointment is for the weekend before the race on 29/30 April and on 1 May when the race route will be announced and the first feedback from the riders will arrive.
But to know how it will end, you just have to wait until 7/8 May, when in Varazze the path of this exciting 2016 Superenduro powered by SRAM season will continue.
