The SCOTT CALA BANDIDA team is born

The new Spanish team is ready to shine in any marathon race.

The relationship between SCOTT and racing is so close that you can't understand one without the other. This 2022, SCOTT Spain and the Cala Bandida restaurant group based in Xàbia, are starting a new and ambitious project that involves the creation of the SCOTT CALA BANDIDA, the team will bring together 4 world-class national riders with the aim of continuing to fight for the top in the most important competitions on the planet. Fully focused on bike-marahton, we will also see its members compete in booming modes such as e-bikes or gravel.

Didac Sabaté, Marketing Manager of SCOTT Spain, explains: “It is a great project with which we want to create an international team made up of national riders and show that Spain has the qualities to measure up in any competition. We want to be a point of reference for all the riders and fans of our country ”.

Sergio Mantecón, one of the best XCO riders in the history of Spain will now focus on the bike-marathon: “I need to rediscover myself as an athlete and look for new ambitions. Long distance is something I've always enjoyed, so it seems like the perfect time to take this step. Together with the sports project, a personal project is born, I will try to help my teammates and improve their sports career ".

The other members of the team are Francesc Guerra, SCOTT athlete from the beginning of his career, José María Sánchez for years a member of the SCOTT Spain family, knows the SCOTT world perfectly and is ready to bring all his experience to competitions together with the new team. Competing for the SCOTT CALA BANDIDA squad, Marcos García, his title of National Champion obtained on a SCOTT Spark RC, opened the doors for him to grow within the XCM.

The SCOTT CALA BANDIDA calendar is as ambitious as it is challenging. In this first part of the season the team will face the following tests:

Costa Blanca Bike Race - From 27 to 30 January

Mediterranean Epic - From 10 to 13 February

Andalusia Bike Race - From 21 to 26 February

Cape Epic - From 20 to 27 March.

SCOTT will supply the new team with the SCOTT Spark RC World Cup Evo AXS and SCOTT Scale World Cup AXS both equipped with Syncros Fraser iC SL WC handlebars and Belcarra R SL and Tofino V SL saddles. The team will also wear two of the most successful accessories in the SCOTT catalog: the Centric Plus helmet and the RC SL Supersonic MTB shoes.
The list of the group's official supplier brands is completed by: Gsport, 226ers, Mavic, Hutchinson, X-Socks, Eassun, ISB, Galfer, Hirzl, Sigma, Zycle and Klinpig.
