The Mercedes-Benz UCI Mountain Bike World Cup continues in the French Alps. Next weekend Les Gets will host the fourth round dedicated to cross country and the second to downhill. As for all the races this year, Red Bull TV will guarantee the commentary in Italian: on Saturday 3rd July Marco Aurelio Fontana will tell us about the DH finals with Torquato “Toto” Testa, fresh off the podium at Crankworx Innsbruck, while on Sunday 4th for the XCO will have the youtuber Andrea Ziliani at his side.
Les Gets returned to the World Cup circuit in 2019 after a 16-year hiatus. The last time we raced on the French track, Amaury Pierron and Tracey Hannah won in the downhill, Kate Courtney and Nino Schurter in the XCO. Two years later and in view of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, the values on the field are different.
As far as the downhill is concerned, the most awaited man is Troy Brosnan, who was strong both in Leogang and in the downhill at last weekend's Crankworx Innsbruck. The Australian will have to contend with the champions who race "at home" Thibaut Dapréla, Loïc Bruni, Amaury Pierron and Loris Vergier. In the women's field it is only a matter of time for Vali Höll, who in the previous stage in Austria came close to her first success in the World Cup as an elite. The big news on the pitch cross country Olympic champion, while Mathieu van der Poel is in the yellow jersey at the Tour de France, is the return to the race of the phenomenon Tom Pidcock. The winner of the Nové Město stage missed the Leogang test, won by the Swiss Mathias Flückiger, because he had to return to road racing and race the Tour de Suisse, in reality his plans were turned upside down by the impact he had on workout with a machine.
After the fractured collarbone in the accident was cured in record time, he is ready to make a comeback on his mtb.
Among the women Loana Lecomte will be chasing the fourth victory out of four in the World Cup. The Frenchwoman has been absolutely dominant, so far in 2021 she has led every round of the World Cup. Austrian Laura Stigger is another young woman who is in a hurry to show off and after the third place obtained in Leogang - her best result in the elite World Cup - she is aiming for the top step of the podium. In doubt the presence of the Swiss champion Jolanda Neff who in Leogang finished the race with a broken hand in the fall she ran into in the final.
The show in Les Gets will start on Friday evening with the short track rehearsals, live from 17.20 pm. To learn more, read the practical guide on www.redbull.com and download the Red Bull TV app on your favorite device!
