In addition to its 12 kilometers of single trails, the Bikepark Lienz knows how to impress with its incredible panoramic view of the surrounding mountains and its family atmosphere. The quality of the park speaks for itself - not only the "Peter Sagan Trail" won the award this year as the best freeride trail in Tyrol, but also the Bikepark Lienz itself, as the youngest member of the Gravity Card, can be said to be part of the most large European bike park network with 24 bike parks in 6 countries.

Located between the Großglockner, the highest mountain in Austria with its 3798 meters, and the Lienz Dolomites, the Bikepark Lienz has become a real gem in just five years. Its four bike park trails, a total of 12 kilometers long, "Flow Family Trail", "Alban Lakata Trail", "Peter Sagan Trail" and "Welcome to the Jungle" offer everything the heart of the mountain biker desires with great flow, massive airtime, treacherous root passages and rock gardens. Divided into a blue and two red course and a black variant, the Bikepark Lienz is the perfect playground for cyclists of all levels: From beginners to families with children on bicycles, up to the more experienced.

“Bikepark Lienz is not the biggest of them all, but it has a very special family atmosphere here. The quality of the trails is what I really like. Especially the fact that there are no holes here, even towards the end of the season, always inspires me again. The modelers do a great job. The fact that the trails lead practically all the way to the town of Lienz is also not bad. Firstly, it makes it easier to get to the park and secondly, you can end a long day on the trail with an after-work drink in the old town, ”says Alban Lakata, a Lienz native and three-time marathon world champion. basically.
When Bikepark Lienz welcomes the first riders to its trails this year, just before Ascension Day, the park and the region will take the next step in their development as a mountain biking destination as part of the Gravity Card: " It was a natural step for us to join the association. We are one of the youngest parks in the Alps. In three hours by car, Austrians, Germans or Italians can visit our great mountain biking region, ”says Franz Theurl, president of the East Tyrolean Tourism Association.

The fact that the hard work of the Lienzer Bergbahnen AG cable car, of the Osttirol area and above all of the bike park crew has paid off is demonstrated not least by the assignment of the "Peter Sagan Trail" as the best freeride trail in 2022 in part of the Great Trails Tyrol 2022 campaign. Just in time for the bike park's fifth anniversary, the trail is now considered “the trail for bike park specialists”. Playful, lots of air, full of action, extremely challenging ”. The bike park's medium difficulty red track combines flow with lots of airtime and has 55 steep corners, 18 rollers, numerous gaps and step-ups in store for its four kilometers in length. If you like it even wilder, after a good quarter of the way in the Hochsteinwald you head towards the variant “Welcome to the Jungle”, 600 meters long. The black trail follows the drop line almost directly and challenges not only the attention of the runners but also their muscles with root passes and rock gardens before meeting the Peter Sagan Trail further down.
“The Peter Sagan Trail is so special because it truly has something for everyone and offers a lot of variety! You can comfortably roll from top to bottom or go full throttle with appropriate jumps, side swipes and the potential for various gaps and tricks. The trail builders have been really creative here which makes the trail super playful. The central section "Welcome to the Jungle", which is completely hand-built and natural, makes everything super varied in between! " - Peter Kaiser, member of the Great Trails jury.

If all this is not enough, a few weeks after the opening of the Lienz Bikepark, another delight can be expected when the second East Tyrolean bike park plays in the season. Not far from the house Fabio Wibmer and Gabriel Wibmer, the two most famous athletes of East Tyrol, the Bike Park Großglockner Resort and its three nine-kilometer single trails invite you to spectacular rides with a unique 360-degree view of the homonymous peak and many other mountains of the Hohe Tauern Dolomites and Lienz.
If you don't want to collect only meters of downhill, East Tyrol is a paradise for recreational cyclists and families with around 600 kilometers of approved mountain bike trails. The well-developed network of charging stations makes exploring the region by e-mountain bike a real option.
