Race under the sun in Dublin, Ireland, but still heavy ground conditions due to the frozen ground which then gradually turned into mud during the day. Too bad for the lack of Mathieu Van Der Poel, in Spain to train for the road season, although he has made it clear that he would have preferred to take part in the cyclo-cross season in a complete way.

However, the course was fast and tactical, with very close gaps and constant changes at the head of the race. In the first half of the race, Eli Iserbyt was very perky as usual, followed by a Tom Pidcock who tried to put Wout Van Aert to the test, who in the first stages of the race struggled to take the lead due to various problems, including a dangerous skid and an unfortunate episode in the pit area (see the videos).

But despite this episode, and the forcing ahead, Wout Van Aert returns and, with 2 laps to go, unleashes all his watts. His opponents can't do anything but watch: only a great Laurens Sweeck tries to come back demonstrating excellent condition. Tom Pidcock suffers and fights with the others for a place on the podium.

Wout Van Aert wins with a 14″ advantage over Laurens Sweeck. Tom Pidcock, with teeth, added a 3rd place. Sweeck increases his leadership in the World Cup over Eli Iserbyt, who doesn't seem able to counter him in the last few races. No Italians at the start.

At the age of 18 I passed into the cross country competing at national/international level as an Under23. Past Elite, I made the choice to take things more lightly from a training point of view, and my love for gravity disciplines was born, training me as an FCI MTB instructor and guide. Now I have made passion my profession by managing 2 MTB centers on the island of Elba (Bike Center Elba and Elba MTB), creating the FANTAmtb and telling in an ironic but professional way everything that revolves around MTB thanks to 365mountainbike and 365TV (YouTube'PULITI dentro BIKER fuori').
