After the success of Mercedes-Benz UCI Mountain Bike World Cup's Leogang, in Austria the two-wheeled show continues. Finally it's time for the craziest mtb free ride festival in the world. The Crankworx World Tour 2021 snaps from Innsbruck and is ready to take your breath away. The best riders on the planet are ready to defy gravity and their limits from June 17th to 20th live on Red Bull TV. The program of the five days of competition is dense and interesting, here are the events not to be missed:
- Thursday 17 June from 11:00: Specialized Dual Slalom
- Thursday 17 June from 19.30 pm: RockShox Innsbruck Pump Track Challenge
- Friday 18 June from 18.30 pm: CLIF Speed & Style Innsbruck
- Saturday 19 June from 16.00 pm: Crankworx Innsbruck Slopestyle
- Sunday 20 June from 16.30 pm: Deuter Innsbruck Downhill presented by Raiffeisen Club
After the exceptional 2020 with only two events in the series, off-road enthusiasts can't wait to see the stunts of the best riders in the world again. As for the Italians competing in the Dual Slalom we will find Lorenzo Ballarini, Gregory Lanfranchi, Davide and Stefano Dolfin, with the latter also involved in the Official European Whip-Off Championships presented by POC. At the start of the Crankworx Innsbruck Slopestyle there will be for sure Torquato “Toto” Head and maybe, Diego Caverzasi, which at the moment is second reserve but is already in place and ready to take action in the event of a forfeit of two opponents.
The underdogs are all for Emil Johansson: Will the Swedish champion manage to do four out of four in the slopestyle race? You will have to contend with highly respected rivals. Among the athletes invited to Innsbruck are Thomas Genon, Tomas Lemoine, Erik Fedko, Max Fredriksson, Dawid Godziek and Nicholi Rogatkin.
As is customary for Crankworx events, there are athletes competing in multiple races. In the women's field Vaea Verbeeck she is the most highly rated to become the queen of Innsbruck, as she will take part in all four events open to women. Thomas Lemoine he is the leading name among those who will be at the start of all tests, as he is always on the podium in everything that belongs to Crankworx.
In downhill all eyes will be on Vali Hell. The young Austrian suffered an ankle injury before the 2020 World Championships, which put her out of the game for the rest of the season, but in the first round of the World Cup in Leogang last weekend she proved to be fit and ready to defend her title in 2021. The home athlete is also expected to compete in double slalom and pumptrack events. Her compatriot David Trummer he will be equally anxious to defend the DH title he won on the Austrian track.
