In a room full of press workers, political figures and the world of sport, it was the "host" Franco Senesi who welcomed all the guests, with the president of the Cassa Rurale Alta Valsugana who did not fail to “to renew trust and support towards the MTB section of Paolo Alverà's Polisportiva Oltrefersina”. Andrea Fontanari, president of the Comunità Alta Valsugana and Bersntol, also unfailingly agrees and added: "our community has a lot at heart for entities like the one led by Paolo Alverà, involved in social issues and sport, which play an important role that serves as an example towards the new generations. The Alta Valsugana Community and Bersntol can only support an event like the Italian Absolute Championship of Pergine Valsugana". In the presence of the deputy mayor of Pergine, Daniela Casagranda, the Councilor for Sport of the Municipality of Pergine Franco Demozzi also spoke and did not fail to express an essential thank you "to the MTB section and to all the volunteers who will collaborate in the successful realization of this big event". The APT Valsugana is not lacking in the synergy created by the MTB section with local realities, and as the events manager Patrizio Andreatta recalled: “organizing an event like this requires a great effort that goes hand in hand with tourism promotion. It is an important vector for making our splendid territory and all the potential of Valsugana known, a true open-air gym". Also present was the president of CONI Trento, Paola Mora: "I would like to remind you that the Olympics would not exist without grassroots sports associations such as the Polisportiva Oltrefersina, which make it possible for young people to practice sport and make them future champions".
Reviewing the more technical aspects, it was the president of the Off-road section of the Cycling Federation, Massimo Ghirotto, who recalled that on the occasion of the Italian Absolute Championship in Pergine Valsugana the Federal Council of the Cycling Federation will meet at the Pergine Castle, adding further prestige to the tricolor review. Ghirotto said he was confident and "in addition to bringing greetings from president Dagnoni, I would like to say that I spoke with coach Mirko Celestino and there is an excellent feeling regarding the participation of the four athletes in the Italian Championship in Pergine Valsugana who will represent our nation at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games." They are Luca Braidot, Simone Avondetto, Martina Berta and Chiara Teocchi, the four musketeers of the blue fat wheels.
In the series of interventions, the president of the Oltrefersina Polisportiva, Stefano Sartori, was not missing: "I remember when Paolo Alverà and Emanuele Pincigher proposed the creation of the MTB section of our Polisportiva to me, almost 10 years ago, and today we are here one step away from the Italian Absolute Championship. We've come a long way and I can only be honored by the work of Paolo's partnership and staff." Paolo Alverà's name was repeated over and over again during the conference, with the head of the MTB section receiving quite a few compliments and appreciation. “I'm more used to working than speaking in these contexts” added Alverà smiling, alongside his historic collaborator and friend Emanuele Pincigher. The Alverà-Pincigher duo in fact represents the soul of the MTB section of the Oltrefersina Polisportiva: "we started almost by chance, but with the enthusiasm we received we grew year after year" recalled Alverà, who was echoed by Pincigher: "our passion for MTB can't even be measured. For this Italian Absolute Championship we have set up a high-level route and now we just want to demonstrate that we are worthy of this great event". Also at work are many collaborators and volunteers from the MTB section, the lifeblood for the realization of the event which will also see the talent born and raised in the ranks of the Polisportiva Mattia Stenico unleashed on the track, and off-piste will set up a large array of events featuring the delicacies by chef Paolo Betti.
The conference was also animated by the contagious enthusiasm of Martino Fruet, the Pergine ace aiming for his 30th Italian Championship: "I never thought I would be able to reach this goal and moreover to be able to do it at my home in Pergine. It will be the last in the Cross Country specialty, then I aim to have fun for some more time with the e-bike" announced Fruet, who collaborated personally for the creation of the tricolor trails between the Parco Tre Castagni and the Pergine Bike Park, and precisely in relation to the trails he recalled: "the first part is full of roots and typical of the 'old school' MTB, while the second winks at the more modern one with parabolics, banks, jumps and new lines designed with extreme care by the staff of the MTB section".
A sketch between local athletes Martino Fruet and Andrea Righettini, with the young biker specialized in Marathon races who boasts of having beaten the 1977 champion Fruet three times. “I will be at the start of the E-MTB race, I am still thinking about the XCO. What is certain is that I can't wait to participate in this event!” recalled Righettini.
In conclusion, it was Giovannina Collanega who spoke. The president of the Trentino Cycling Federation recalled that "it is a great pride for our provincial committee to host an event of this level, I have personally seen the growth made over the years by the Oltrefersina Polisportiva and it is a real pleasure to see the MTB section reach this great goal" .
The appointment for donning the tricolor jerseys and awarding the title of Italian Champions is in Pergine Valsugana from 19 to 21 July, for three days of great sport by MTB Oltrefersina.
