The second round of the Specialized e-Enduro circuit is held in Massa Marittima
It promises to be a weekend of great sport and fun in Massa Marittima, a medieval jewel of the Tuscan Maremma.
In fact, on Sunday 4th June, the second round of the Specialized e-Enduro circuit is scheduled, the first ever reserved exclusively for pedal assisted mountain bikes.
It will be an extremely fun race but accessible to everyone, with Special Stages prepared by the Trail Brothers guys specifically designed to enhance the technical characteristics of the e-bikes, therefore almost entirely off road also for what concerns the transfers and with Ps obtained on very flow, full of ups and downs and, of course, intoxicating descents!
Over one hundred e-bikers from all over Italy are expected, including some absolute big names in the specialty, such as Denny Lupato, Vittorio Gambirasio and Andrea Bruno and others, who will battle on the edge of seconds in the four Special Stages scheduled up and down. for the hills and woods surrounding Massa Marittima.
But it will also be a great show for the many tourists who will take advantage of the long weekend of June 2 to discover this magnificent corner of Tuscany and admire the interesting artistic testimonies and medieval architecture. Between one visit and another to the monuments and the necessary stops in one of the many typical and renowned local trattorias, there will also be the opportunity to enjoy an unusual and a little more adrenaline-fueled show.
The last timed fraction of the four scheduled, in fact, will run right in the heart of the Borgo Antico, between the alleys and stairways of the medieval town. In this case, unlike the classic enduro races, the time will not be made only thanks to the downhill skills but, also by making the most of the potential of the electric motor, in combination with your athletic preparation, up the climbs. A guaranteed show, therefore, for the public and photographers and great competitive tension and adrenaline, but also the opportunity for everyone, enthusiasts and curious, to touch, and in some cases even test, these futuristic bicycles.
In the heart of the medieval village
The start and finish area, the paddocks and the whole exhibition village, in fact, will be set up as early as Saturday 3 June, in the historic center of Massa Marittima. In addition to the Race Events inflatable, where the race secretariat will be set up, there will be stands of Specialized, Atala, Lapierre, Mondraker, Limar, Dt, Maxxis.
There will also be the Andreani and Ohlins truck available for mechanical assistance to those who need it. Furthermore, under the Brose tent there will be "Octopus", the recharging station, capable of serving 100 batteries at the same time, which will be available to all competitors on Saturday during rehearsals, so, while resting during lunch break, the batteries can be recharged free of charge for the afternoon reconnaissance. The service is reserved for members only and will be completely free.
For the day of the race, Sunday 4 June "Octopus" will be located in Massa Vecchia where, after the Time Control before Special Stage 2, it will be possible to recharge the battery according to the methods of use provided by the race director, which will be communicated in the briefing on Saturday afternoon.
The Trail Brothers staff, together with Massa Vecchia and other local realities, worked hard to set up a route worthy of expectations, which are very high especially after the excellent debut test of the Sestri Levante circuit at the beginning of April.
After all, there is no shortage of suitable trails in this suggestive corner of the Tuscan Maremma, and there is also no lack of experience to select the right ones and adapt them in the best way to the new discipline.
Ernesto Hutmacher, the founder of Massa Vecchia, a famous tourist facility in the area, was among the first in Europe to see the potential of e-bikes and has continued to invest in this type of vehicle ever since.
Furthermore, the hills around Massa Marittima are particularly suitable for the creation of ad hoc paths and, after the popular Superenduro test organized last year, the Trail Brothers guys got back into the game to design a path, if possible, even more fun and within everyone's reach.
In particular, the goal set by Francesco Guidi, race director and also vice president of the ASD who for years has been preparing and taking care of the trails in the area, was to select routes capable of enhancing the competitive potential of the -bike, such as to make their riding even more fun and faster. Franco Monchiero himself, creator of e-Enduro, together with Cristian Trippa and Davide Bonandrini, on the occasion of the technical inspection declared himself enthusiastic about the route precisely because it was designed specifically for pedal assisted bikes, therefore according to a logic that goes beyond a little from that typical of the “muscular” Enduro characterized, instead, by long climbs as transfers and Special Stages almost exclusively downhill.
We remind you that it is possible to register for the Massa Marittima race on the website www.e-enduro.it according to the dictates of the K factor reserved for members of the Cycling Federation, no later than 20.00 pm on Thursday 1st June.
After this date it will be possible to register on Saturday at the race secretary directly in Massa Marittima. Also near the secretariat, on Saturday 1 April, the briefing is scheduled in the afternoon, in which the race director will explain to the competitors and their teams everything necessary on the conditions of the course and the procedure for running the competition.
