Emotion until the finish: the Swiss National Short Track, held as part of the Proffix Swiss Bike Cup, ends with sprint victories for Jolanda Neff and Filippo Colombo.
Jolanda Neff and Filippo Colombo won gold medals at the first Swiss championships in the discipline of short track mountain biking. The Olympic champion Neff, who two weeks ago won the short track World Cup race in Nove Mesto, prevailed on the Lugano fast street circuit ahead of Linda Indergand and the short track world champion Sina Frei.
The "host" Colombo - the 24-year-old resident of Bironico, a few kilometers from Lugano - relegated Vital Albin to second place by a hair's breadth at home, while Andri Frischknecht from Zurich took the bronze. Mathias Flückiger e Nino Schurter they decided not to participate.
As part of this premiere, the championship titles were awarded only in the elite category. The Swiss XCO Championships will take place next weekend in Leysin.
