The second stage of the Swiss Epic 2022 was the one with this year's Cima Coppi (Urdenfurggli 2546 meters), but also the longest descent of the race, a stage that highlighted the technical qualities of Fabian's Wilier Triestina Urta SLR and Daniel.

From the summit of the Urdenfürggli an 8 kilometer long path leads down to Lenzerheide, home of the XCO Mountain Bike World Cup. Then followed a descent along the Landwasser river towards Chur. The last 30 kilometers were uphill into the gorge of the Rhine, to arrive on the turquoise waters of Lake Cauma before the last hard stretch that led to Laax.

The duo Wilier Triestina Pirelli tried to attack immediately on the first climb, accumulating an advantage of about 1'30 ”over their pursuers, who then returned at the end of the long descent. At that point Fabian and Daniel waited for the final climb to launch another attack and win the stage with a lead of 1'22 ”over the second classified pair. Now the Wilier Triestina Pirelli Factory Team leads the general classification with an advantage of 5'02 ”.
“Today we had good legs to set the pace from the first ascent, we saw that the others were suffering from the high ground and so we attacked, then on the next descent we took it a bit calmly so as not to risk. So the guys from Singer Racing are back. We knew we were in excellent shape and therefore in the last 10 km we pushed hard and managed to open a good gap and reach the finish line winners and loners even today. We are very happy with how we are managing this Swiss Epic ”- Fabian Rabensteiner
4th place for Dario Cherchi and Martino Tronconi of KTM Alchemis & Attitude. Tomorrow Stage 3 from Laax to Laax, 63km with 2200m of elevation gain.
