Superprestige: Tom Pidcock takes his revenge on Van Der Poel

At the Superprestige we saw the superiority of Mathieu van der Poel and Tom Pidcock: a pity that a fall of the Dutchman made life easy for the British.

Yesterday there was a new duel between Mathieu van der Poel and Tom Pidcock, even if we didn't get to enjoy it until the end. Boom's Superprestige event saw 2 of the 3 big stars of cyclocross at the start (waiting for the debut of Wout van Aert). The track was slippery even if not particularly muddy. From the first lap, Mathieu van der Poel and Tom Pidcock made the difference: it's a pity that the Dutchman crashed on a stretch of cobblestone in the first half of the race. Pidcock, who was glued to his wheel, was unable to dodge and fell to the ground as well.

Van der Poel hit the asphalt hard and suffered a severe blow: luckily no consequences for him but the race was compromised, also given the breaking of his shoe. Eventually he will finish 13th.

The world champion immediately got back on his bike and opened the gas, leaving Iserbyt and Van der Haar immediately on the pedals. In the final part he managed the advantage going to win easily.

Among women, Aniek Van Alphen wins in the sprint over Denise Betsema. The only Italian at the start, Francesca Baroni (23rd). To follow the Cyclo-cross World Cup, subscribe to Eurosport Player.

ppgad@pucrs.br I am passionate about everything that has 2 wheels: in my youth I practiced competitive cycling on the road and on the track with good results. At the age of 18 I moved to cross country competing at national/international level as U23. Once I passed Elite, I made the choice to take things easier from the training point of view, and that's how my love for gravity disciplines was born, training as an FCI MTB instructor and guide. Now I have made my passion my profession by managing 3 MTB centers on the island of Elba (Elba MTB), creating the FANTAmtb and telling in an ironic but professional way, everything that revolves around MTB thanks to 365mountainbike and 365TV (YouTube 'PULITI dentro BIKER fuori').
