With summer around the corner for Superenduro Powered By SRAM, the time has come to climb the Alps, for the first of the two mountain stages of the 2014 season. he strongly believed in mountain biking and has always been able to propose fantastic routes, in a unique natural context.
After two events on the sea, the Superenduro lands in the upper Chiavenna Valley, an ideal location to be reached by riders from all over Europe, thanks to its favorable geographical position. The Madesimo lifts will be open this weekend to test the route, while next week the extraordinary opening will be brought forward to the Wednesday before the race!
The 2014 edition of the Lombard stage promises very rich news, with the Madebike park trails that will be joined by a new special stage that will descend on the Andossi side, opposite to that of the ski lifts. A terrific singletrack, which will open the race on Saturday afternoon. A much awaited new entry, which will complete a technical but above all fun path, in which you can find all the ideal features for the Superenduro special stages.
We reached Enrico Guala on skype to have us describe the Andossi special. Here's what he told us:
The first day, with pedaled transfers only, includes the PS degli Andossi, followed by the classic Larici, inside the bike park. On Sunday, the riders will have to compete on four stages: Crestino 1, Balloon, Crestino 2, Larici, with the time control that will take your breath away after the first two tests and with the last stage that will arrive in the heart of Madesimo, for joy. of the public. A long and demanding race, with the unknown of the changing weather conditions of the high mountains which makes it even more difficult to predict.
The circuit is at the halfway point, with Madesimo already representing the last call for many riders. in anticipation of the conclusion of Sauze d'Oulx on 6-7 September. At the top of the classification Marco Milivinti, the surprise of the first two races, followed by Manuel Ducci (who will return after an ankle injury) and the new Italian champion Alex Lupato, who triumphed in Madesimo last year by winning his first tricolor jersey. Vittorio Gambirasio and Nicola Casadei will closely mark their opponents, with all the other top riders ready to enter the top positions. Spotlight also on Davide Sottocornola, great interpreter of this race, who finally seems to have found the conditions of the best days.
Milivinti plays at home in Madesimo and his eventual victory would bring him closer to the title. However, the Italian riders will have to deal with the numerous foreigners, who could grab valuable points in the top ten. The presence of big names such as Mark Scott, Adam Craig and Lars Sternberg has been confirmed, so it's easy to imagine their inclusion in the fight for the top positions. Madesimo thus confirms itself as one of the most loved races by foreigners, who have always found themselves at ease among the larch trees and the roots of Madebike Park. All open instead among women, with the dominatrix of the first two stages Luise Pauline who will not be able to be at the start due to an injury, with a zero in the standings that could prove fatal in terms of the championship. Road paved then for Valentina Macheda, the Italian champion Laura Rossin and Chiara Pastore, who promise battle and the usual great show.
As already mentioned, we remember the opening of the Madebike Park lifts on 21 and 22 June, with extraordinary opening on 25, 26 and 27 June. For all other information and to book your stay in Madesimo, please visit the event sheet!
