Stellar podium: Van der Poel, Van Aert and Pidcock in the CX World Cup

Van Aert lost contact on the first lap while Pidcock chased from 25th place, denying Nieuwenhuis the podium, also due to a puncture.

There aren't enough superlatives to describe Mathieu van der Poel's cyclocross dominance at the end of 2023. The first lap was enough to make it clear that the others would be chasing until the end. Wout van Aert (Jumbo-Visma) was the only one to keep a slight eye on the world champion, but he too was unable to do anything and was satisfied with a second place.

There was a good battle for third place where Tom Pidcock, on the last lap, overtook Joris Nieuwenhuis (Baloise Trek), victim of a puncture in the final metres. Tom Pidcock, as often happens, started badly and recovered lap after lap with very interesting lap times.

Puck Pieterse (Fenix-Deceuninck) took his first win of the 2023-24 cyclocross season at the Gavere World Cup. The world champion crashed during reconnaissance and looked uncomfortable during the first few laps with his right knee bandaged. She fought on the first climbs to get unstuck and then stabilized in second position. Seventh place for Sara Casasola.
