Spring is coming, 4enduro starts again

On Sunday there was not only the first stage of the world cup of which you can find the chronicle HERE; the 4enduro circuit has also restarted and with it my competitive season (if you can call it that) has begun again.

In action in that of Coggiola

It matters little how my personal race went, it is more interesting to talk about the environment, the new friends and the new faces. Spring has always been the time of rebirth; for those who do this sport it coincides with the start of the competitions and in general moments of meeting. As already written a few weeks ago, you go by bike all year round; but it is undeniable that it is precisely in this period that the desire to go out and discover nature becomes greater.

For many, the competition is an opportunity to ride on new trails, to get out of the routine of the classic routes behind the house; thus finding new motivations and to improve themselves. But competitions are also a time to recover relationships, meet old friends and often make new ones. Sharing fatigue and adrenaline is a glue capable of uniting like few other things. The ascents, the exchange of impressions on a complicated passage, or the feelings of the end of the ps are moments of an intense day.

In Coggiola there is also an extra element, the salamella at the end of the race; an appointment that no one seems to want to give up ...

Being part of this caravan allows me to better understand the dynamics of those who organize an event; what are the problems and the immense work that revolves around the Sunday of the race. I always thank the organizers; regardless of success or failure, because it takes more courage to prepare for a competition than to be an athlete.

Participation in this 4enduro event is also an opportunity to retrace some of the iconic trails of this discipline; but it is above all the moment to discover the new works carried out by the group from this Valsesian locality.

Bella uncle, San Pancrazio, Gogher, are names that anyone who has participated in an enduro race has heard at least once; this is also because for several years they have been the training ground of the Lupato brothers.

But the local team of trail builders wanted to make a qualitative leap; introducing new variants, opening a new amusement area in the valley that starts from Noveis and arrives in Ailoche. This is how Belen and the mines were born, two trails that together have made it possible to transform this race into something new.

The result was a really intense competition, where the physical component played an important role. According to my Cardio, a race came out with about 1500 meters of difference in altitude 4800 kcal spent, not bad.

The race

450 participants in this first stage of 4enduro, many top level athletes; but the number of enthusiasts who wanted to meet in Coggiola even greater

The chronicle says that it was the winner Danny Lupato; to which the recent paternity has not taken away the desire to go fast. In second place he finished Matthew Raimondi, which brought the Specialized Stumpjumper evo into the race; has shown that you can go fast even with less exasperated means. Closes the podium Matteo Bertha, demonstrating that the race had a national importance.

Among the women the victory went to Nadine Ellecosta, in second place Scarce Glory while a closes the podium Alia Marcellini.

Even among amateurs remains at home, with the victory of Gabriele Brera Molinaro, who takes 8th place overall, Davide Carisismi in second place and Alberto Stopani from Verbania in third.

But at the stage of the 4enduro of Coggiola there was also an event that did not go unnoticed among the experts, the passage of Davide Sottocornola to the masters. A historical fact, which closes a chapter for one of the most important national riders. The reason for this choice is related to the work project; which sees S8 engaged in the development of facilities dedicated to MTB in the Maggiora field, a very famous theater of epic challenges in world cross. We will have the opportunity to deepen this project with the person concerned later, visiting him at his "workplace".

Now the 4enduro caravan moves to Oasi Zegna, Val di lana; in practice from Coggiola instead of going up on the right bank, you will go up on the opposite mountain.
