The Spitzhorn Trail was born from the fruitful collaboration between Plan de Corones and Velosolutions. Velosolutions is known worldwide for its exceptional pump tracks and for the design and construction of the XCO track for the next Summer Olympics in Paris in 2024, which is nearing completion.

The collaboration between the Italian franchise and Plan de Corones has historical roots in winter sports (snow parks). It was a natural progression to extend this partnership into the summer season, a season in which mountain biking is the star of the offer.
Mountain bike tourism is essential for the success of holiday resorts, especially in the mountains. More and more guests are using the bicycle to get away from it all, keep fit and discover new landscapes. Plan de Corones has established itself for years as a renowned cycling destination and is pursuing a growth strategy which is now further strengthened by the collaboration with an important player in the cycling scene, Velosolutions. With extensive experience and expertise, Velosolutions is well equipped to plan and design bespoke trails such as the new Spitzhorn Trail for every level of difficulty.

Martin Gruber of Velosolutions explains: “For Velosolutions Italia, the implementation of the Spitzhorn Trail project is a milestone in which we have combined all skills and energies together with our headquarters”.
SPITZHORN TRAIL – A DREAM FOR ALL MOUNTAIN BIKE ENTHUSIASTS
The project started in autumn 2022 with a feasibility study followed by site inspection by the Velosolutions team in April 2023. After eight weeks of intense work, carried out hand in hand with the local team, Spitzhorn Trail is ready for the inauguration at the end of July .

The new path descends towards the Valdaora (Olang) side, breaking away from the Gassl Trail, one of the most popular in the bike park. This track adds many elements that were previously missing from the local trail network, making the offer even more varied and attractive. In just over a kilometre, with a negative dive of about 180 metres, we find many features on which bikers can enjoy themselves in complete safety: jumps, walkways, drops, lean curves. Spitzhorn obviously wants to be a path for everyone, which is why there is no shortage of 'chicken lines', easier variants that bypass the most important obstacles. The approach aims to be progressive, so as to push the enthusiast to improve, always having fun. The most important but also and above all scenic feature is a large wallride, located in a strategic panoramic position over the Valdaora valley below, so as to also become a so-called 'photo point' for instagramming.
Velosolutions expert technicians have designed the route in such a way that it can be tackled safely by any biker, as well as the other elements and structures of the route which guarantee an exciting and unforgettable experience for everyone.
The Spitzhorn Trail is divided into three sections: the first part, which branches off from the Gassl Trail, is a sequence of very flowing flow curves, the central section features jumps and features in an open area with great visibility up to the panoramic Wallride. The last stretch goes through the woods, alternating between natural terrain and various wooden walkways which eventually lead back to the already existing trail.
Alessandro Turi from Plan de Corones commented on the collaboration as follows: “The partnership with Velosolutions, top player on the international bike scene, is of great importance for the Bikepark Plan de Corones. It has allowed the development of a demanding route which is nevertheless suitable for all bikers and the expansion of the local offer. Thanks to this collaboration we can present a varied, fun and innovative path with elements that were missing".
Since the end of July, the Spitzhorn Trail offers, together with all the other trails in the bike park, the opportunity to experience an unforgettable riding experience amidst the breathtaking nature of South Tyrol.
