Specialized presented the new Toupe saddle with Body Geometry technology, which has been successfully tested for several years but which is improved every season. During the presentation at the Italian headquarters of Specialized in Milan, Roger Mikow (the creator of the designer) was present, with whom we were able to see how important the saddle is for a cyclist who spends hours pedaling on it.
For the tests he used a vascular oxygen meter to show the blood flow in the lower parts and therefore understand how much the saddle hinders this phenomenon. Put simply, a small suction cup was applied to the rider's penis and the test was repeated twice, first with a Body Geometry saddle then with a convex saddle. The result was that in the 2nd test the value referring to the blood supply was halved.
For the occasion we were able to measure the width of our ischiatric bones to get the correct size of the saddle: in my case the value was close to 130mm and therefore size M fits perfectly. In the photo you can see the new S-Works Toupè weighing 155 grams in size M, with oversized Fact carbon trolley and covered with super light EVA foam. The saddle in question is used by many professional road teams and will be available from this Summer in three sizes (SML).
