The Port Du Soleil area on the French-Swiss border should be crowded with skiers and snowboarders at this time of year. On the other hand, the area has reopened some lifts to pedestrians and mountain bikers, since the snow has not fallen. Before Christmas, rain caused landslides and closed some areas, following what was one of the hottest New Years in European history.

The situation of little snow on the slopes has meant that some lifts can be used by bikes, as there is no snow in the lower part of the station. This is the case with Morzine.
The lack of snow so far in winter is noticeable not only in the Pyrenees. In the Alps the situation is not much better and many resorts are having serious problems opening their slopes or even closing large parts of them. In Morzine they have reached a point where some of their ski lifts are open for use by walkers and… bikers!
LES GETS – UPDATE (17:00 – 31/12/2022)
Yesterday's heavy rains combined with today's mild temperatures had the better of several tracks in Les Gets. Unfortunately some slopes no longer have enough snow to open safely. The lack of snow around the arrival and departure stations of the ski lifts also creates problems. From tomorrow, Sunday 1 January, only the Chavannes gondola lift, the Vieux-Chêne ski lift and the Chavannes magic carpet will open 🔴 Unfortunately this means that the connections between Morzine and Les Gets will also be closed. Ski pass prices are now heavily discounted to take account of the situation: you can buy them online and at the ticket office day by day. We remind you that the Mont Chéry ski lift is currently also open for hikers and mountain bikers. The Les Gets piste team has made incredible efforts to keep as much of the resort as possible open and this situation is constantly changing.
