Wet race for the men too but fast: breaking news of the participation of Pidcock and Gaze who initially stayed out because they weren't part of the top 40 in the UCI ranking. They had to wait for some defections to participate.
VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS
Immediately in the first part of the race the bad news for us Italians: Zanotti and Colledani crash and are forced to retire. The race continues at a breakneck pace with Gaze and Pidcock racing smart, slowly creeping through the course of the race without running out of revs.
A strange tactic instead for Luca Schwarzbauer, who at every lap is driven by fearsome uphill demonstrating a magnificent condition but squandering precious energies. Martin Vidaurre can also be seen in the top positions but then he will give up slightly at the end of the race, finishing in 22nd place.
Always in the first positions Luca Braidot, attentive policeman, together with the Italian Short Track champion Daniele Braidot, author of a beautiful race.
In the last lap Pidcock arrives in the first positions but it is always the German Luca Schwarzbauer who takes the first pass with Gaze and Pidcock close behind. Just behind Daniele Braidot. On the straight before the final 200m, Pidcock launches his attack by taking the lead into the final corner and handily winning over world champion Sam Gaze and Luca Shwarzbauer. Nino Schurter is 5th.
