The Scott Spark is one of those bicycles that marked the evolution of the cross country modern. From its first World Cup victories to its most recent Olympic successes, the Swiss model has often represented a point of reference for the XC sector, influencing geometry, integration, and technical solutions subsequently adopted by many competitors.
For 2027 Scott presents a new generation of the Spark RC, a completely revised platform that aims to maintain its leadership in international competitions through three key concepts: lightness, riding dynamics and uncompromising performance.
1.427 gram frame
One of the most striking data concerns the weight of the Spark RC HMX-SL frame kit: 1.427 grams in the medium size, painted and complete with hardware and covers, excluding the suspension elements.
As seen on the previous generation, Scott maintains the shock absorber integrated into the frame, but development work has further focused on mass centralization and a lower center of gravity. The shock absorber is positioned as low as possible in the main triangle, with the aim of improving stability, cornering precision, and bike control in technical sections.
Grip and control at the heart of the project
In cross country In modern cycling, speed isn't just about weight. World Cup courses are increasingly technical and require bikes capable of maintaining grip and control even at high speeds.
That's why Scott developed the Spark RC as an integrated system, focusing on the controlled flex of the frame and the interaction between suspension, wheels, and tires. The goal is to reduce chatter, the vibrations that compromise tire contact with the ground during fast corners and on rough terrain.
According to Scott, the result is a more stable bike, with more precise trajectories and capable of generating greater speed thanks to the increased grip.
Greater compatibility and easier maintenance
Among the most interesting innovations we also find a greater attention to practical aspects.
The new magnetic covers allow quick access to the shock absorber and internal frame components for maintenance. At the same time, the system keeps the shock absorber protected from dirt, water, and debris.
The Spark RC is also compatible with any standard XC shock, leaving more freedom for teams and riders who want to customize their setup.
Telescopic seatposts up to 200 mm
Another sign of the evolution of modern XC comes from the compatibility with long-travel dropper posts.
Thanks to a new bottle cage adapter and a specific frame design, all sizes can accommodate at least a 150mm dropper, while the larger sizes go up to 200mm of travel.
A solution that allows riders to tackle technical descents and the steepest sections of international trails with greater safety.
Integrated Save The Day Kit
Scott continues to focus on integration when it comes to tools as well.
Some models in the range, including the Spark RC Pro, feature the Save The Day system, an integrated space inside the frame that allows you to carry an inner tube, pump and tyre levers.
Next to the shock absorber there is also a dedicated multitool, designed for quick adjustments during training and competitions.
Eight models for the 2027 range
The new 2027 Spark RC range will consist of eight different models, all featuring full carbon frames in the HMX-SL, HMX and HMF variants.
Among the top versions we find the Spark RC World Cup, alongside the RC SL and RC Pro versions, all developed on the same technical platform.
The new Spark RC will be available at Scott dealers starting summer 2026.
World Cup debut
The new Spark RC will make its official debut at the XC World Cup races in Leogang under the SCOTT-SRAM MTB Racing Team athletes, who will use the new Spark RC EVO alongside the Swiss brand’s renewed racing collection.
With this new generation Scott aims to confirm the Spark's role as one of the most influential bicycles in the history of the cross country, adapting it to the increasingly extreme demands of modern competitions.
