Hard work pays off, and the results are there for all to see: it was a super weekend that the Trek Pirelli team experienced with our XCM specialist Samuele Porro, silver medalist at the European Championships!

The Raid Evolenard was really a tough race, with its 78 km and 3800 meters of positive difference in altitude on technical routes, and all the difficulties that can derive from a test run at a frenzied pace. The Trek Supercaliber was the weapon chosen for the weekend by Porro and Rabensteiner.
Samuele attacked already on the first long climb, taking a good advantage over his direct rivals, while Fabian did teamwork in the pursuing group. Halfway through the race, Porro had a 2 ′ advantage over his pursuers, but in the second very long ascent Seewal put the turbo on and began to gnaw ground from the rider of the Trek Pirelli.
The German was leading the GPM, with Samuele second and with a good pace, but not enough to keep that of the leader. After 78 km, Samuele Porro won his third silver medal at the European Championships.
“I had a good race. I am happy for the silver medal, but I was hoping for gold. I played all my cards by doing tactics. I tried to go fast in the first climb in order to gain a decent advantage to manage in the technical descents, also thanks to the choice of using the dropper post. The basic idea worked, and I unplugged Seewald by almost 3 minutes. But along the last climb he caught me and in turn pulled me off, and I realized that even if I had risked everything in the last descent, I wouldn't have been able to make up the gap, so I preferred to keep second place. This year I really wanted to win, but this is MTB ”, Samuele's words.
Excellent race also for Fabian Rabenstainer. After a good start, he began to slow down to sixth position, but taking the advantage in the last descent he managed to cross the finish line in fifth.
So it was a successful weekend for the team, with two riders in the top five of the European Championships.
