Staying on the fork, in the past few weeks we have received a preview and we have tried it in great secrecy, even before the official presentation (and before the Coronavirus problem).
Let's start with a video that better explains how the new RockShox SID is made and how it goes, then let's move on to the technical details and the other models in the 2021 range.
ROCKSHOX SID SL ULTIMATE
The RockShox SID SL Ultimate retains the 32mm stems, but the structure changes: CNC machined anodized aluminum head and steerer (to reduce weight but not lose too much stiffness).
The rake will be only 44 mm, even if the various houses will reserve the right to have special custom models made.
hydraulics
The cartridge is renewed: Charger Race Day. Lighter and more optimized for use cross country and marathons. The weight is 96gr (declared, with oil included) against the 186gr of the Charger 2.
The new cartridge always has two positions (open / closed) and offers an even more firm lockout: operated with a knob or with a remote control (TwistLoc).
We no longer find compression at low speeds: according to RockShox, such an arrangement is more profitable in Xc and Marathon.
Here are the main details:
- Wheel diameter: 29 ″
- Stroke: 100 mm
- Hydraulics: Charger Race Day
- Offset (rake): 44 mm
- Stems: 32 mm aluminum
- Graphics: black or blue
- Weight: 1326gr
- Price: from 869 € to 949 €
SIDLUXE SHOCK ABSORBER
The SIDLuxe shock absorber also arrives, available in Ultimate and Select + versions. In both cases, we are talking about a completely revised shock absorber.
Low weight (227 grams). The compression adjustment is in two positions (open and closed), the external rebound register disappears, but there is still the possibility to adjust it using the same knob present on the new forks.
Tokens can be inserted into the bladder to modify the compression curve. SKF seals and oil is Maxima Plush.
