Andrea Garibbo is 4th. Beautiful victory for Alia Marcellini among women in EWS-E: the Emilian athlete wins her first EWS electric version after the 3rd place in the first stage. The second round of the EWS-E 2022 season saw one of the most difficult courses to date played under a scorching sun in Petzen-Jamnica.
This unique place, which stretches across the Slovenian-Austrian border, put the EWS-E riders to the test on a course that included seven stages, over 60km of pedaling and nearly 2600m of elevation gain.

Laura Charles, the winner of the first stage, had a mechanical breakdown and was forced to retire. With the favorite out of the game, great fight between the other competitors with Florencia Espinera (Orbea Fox Enduro Team) ready to take her place, winning three stages and leading the race to the last stage of the day.

But the Spanish athlete did not come to terms with the Italian Alia Marcellini. In the last stage, 5km long and certainly the hardest of the route, he saw Espinera make various mistakes while Alia Marcellini (Fulgur Factory Team Valdinievole) was "surgical" in the guide going to win PS and general. Espinera took second place and Sofia Wiedenroth (Specialized Racing) took third place and collected some extra points along the way thanks to her victory in the Power Stage.
In the men's race Antoine Rogge (Lapierre Overvolt Team) took the lead in the first stage of the day, but from here on the top three have always changed from PS to PS. Hugo Pigeon (Scott SR Suntour Team), Edgar Carballo Gonzalez (Orbea Fox Enduro Team) and Jerome Gilloux (Lapierre Overvolt Team) all won a PS, but in the end it wasn't enough to beat Yannick Pontal (Blackbox Test Pilot Program).

Yannick Pontal won the first ever EWS-E in Zermatt 2020 and confirmed it today with victory in Petzen-Jamnica.
The Frenchman Pontal won the fourth stage, but it was his last stage that set the record straight. The winner of the first ever EWS-E in 2020 is back in the lead, finishing the race with just two seconds ahead. Tiago Ladeira (Miranda Factory Team) drove steadily all day to secure second place and round one winner Edgar Carballo Gonzalez was forced to settle for third.

The team of the day went to the Orbea Fox Enduro Team, with Miranda Factory Racing in second and Haibike in third.
EWS-E will return for round three on 2 and 3 July in Valberg, France.
