APT Livigno and Red Bull are sorry to have to communicate the cancellation of the Red Bull Wide Open event, scheduled in Livigno from 11 to 13 July. The interruption of the works following the investigations of the Forestry Corps unfortunately does not allow to complete the race course, thus jeopardizing the safety of the athletes. For this reason APT di Livigno and Red Bull have decided to cancel the sporting competition.
Luca Moretti, President of the Livigno Tourist Board stated: “I am confident in a positive resolution of the matter, as the Livigno Tourist Board has requested and obtained the necessary authorizations and complied with all the requirements relating to the construction of the race track. However, I am disappointed and embittered, because I believe that Livigno has lost an important opportunity to show the whole world, given the international character of the event and the visibility it would have had, what it is doing for the bike ”.
Below the press release (issued on 2 July) regarding the blockade by the forest.

The forestry blocks the route of the Red Bull Wide Open in advance
The debate on the route that has been taking place for 2 weeks on the Mottolino side for the Red Bull Wide Open event, strongly supported by Apt and the Municipality of Livigno, is very heated on facebook, several posts have been published by Savio Peri and shared by several citizens, embittered to see the territory and the woods of the town with a path that they say is so invasive.
Indeed, the route is beautiful wide and evident, but we have never noticed it, considering everything to be in place with a lot of official permits for the works and considering the event of international caliber and prestige for the locality and its tourist development . Yesterday someone noticed forest guards wandering around the track area.
Today, Wednesday 2 July 2014, the guards returned to the scene with 6 units and put the route under preventive seizure, in order to allow the forestry corps to make the appropriate investigations and assess whether everything is in order.
It seems that, according to the Apt project, the track should be 4 meters wide and today, in measuring the dimensions, points 15 meters wide have been measured.
The news came out on the Sondrio radio website Radio Tsn and reported in the news of the TV channel of Tsn (channel 172).
