Polini E-P3 + for e-bikes: many news from the Italian brand

Polini Motori brings many innovations in the concept of assisted pedaling with the Polini E-P3 + motor for e-bikes.

Its weight is only 2950 g: light, powerful and compact, the Polini E-P3 + engine has one of the smallest lateral dimensions in its category and delivers a torque of 75 Nm in the E-P3 + (Road) version and 90 Nm in the MX model (specific for MTB) for the most demanding customers.

Totally innovative electronics

The Polini E-P3 + engine uses a software called Pdc - Polini Dynamic Control constantly evolving - developed with 4 objectives:

  1. precision of delivery of the assistance torque always according to the effort applied by the cyclist on the pedals;
  2. reactivity in following the pedaling variations;
  3. reduction of the response time of the motor when you start pedaling by bringing to zero the push stop time when you stop pedaling;
  4. active assistance increase up to 120 RPM.

Firmware

Firmware is the heart of the engine, the intelligence that manages sensor signals (cadence sensor, torque and speed sensor) and transforms them into smooth and enjoyable engine control for the cyclist. In the continuous search for better solutions, Polini Motori constantly updates the engine firmware allowing users to access control improvements even after purchase.

The Firmware is identified by a progressive number. A higher number corresponds to a more updated and evolved version of the previous one.

Customizable mappings

The Polini E-P3 + engine has 5 mappings, 3 of which are preset and 2 are fully configurable.

  • Touring: gentle and progressive, ideal for daily use and longer autonomy.
  • Dynamic: with a sporty character, but at the same time natural and precise.
  • Race: without compromise, a real racing map, to offer maximum performance (set up developed through the experience gained in the races of both the World Series Championship and the Italian FMI Championship).
  • Custom 1 / Custom 2: fully configurable by the user via the smartphone app.

* Assisted walking> In case you need to push your E-bike by hand, E-P3 + allows you to proceed at 6 Km / h with the simple press of a button.

Polini E-Bike App

The Polini E-Bike App is the simple and intuitive interface designed by Polini Motori to communicate with your E-P3 + motorized e-bike.

Available for all smartphones with iOS and Android operating systems, the Polini E-Bike app revolutionizes the world of pedal assistance allowing the user to easily and quickly customize all the features of the engine. The Polini E-Bike App uses bluetooth technology for direct data sharing and allows you to manage commands, settings, diagnostics and customization of engine maps.

Main features of the Polini E-Bike App:

Display: displays the entire display on the smartphone for a clearer view of all and the data and allows you to select the level of assistance, maps, the lights function, and to reset the trip.

Maps Setup: possibility to create two customized maps (Custom 1, Custom 2) starting from the characteristics of one of the pre-set ones between TOURING, DYNAMIC and RACE.

Statistics: with travel information and statistics, useful for analyzing the cyclist's performance since the last reset performed.

Diagnostics: displays the health of the engine, battery and system.

Settings: contains general information and the possibility of setting to optimize the user experience.

The new Polini App has been studied and designed to improve the experience with e-bikes equipped with E-P3 + and E-P3 + MX engines with updated firmware starting from version FW 4.60, downloadable for free from the poliniebike.com website

In addition to ensuring compatibility with the APP, this firmware update allows you to:
- improve the response of the engine according to the thrust of the cyclist
- expand the dynamics in the Dynamic and Race maps for levels 3,4,5 to manage the power in situations of less grip
- improve the walk function
- block rental e-bikes on the touring map
- improve the management of the limitation of assistance levels for low battery values
- make the system start up faster

The Polini TFT display is easy to read thanks to a 2,5-inch adaptive light color screen, i.e. with automatic adaptation of color and intensity based on the ambient light. M.accurately displays the cyclist's pedaling power, cadence, motor power and residual range.

The display is also able to read and show the autonomy of the Bottle Battery. The software update will also be available shortly, allowing heart rate monitoring directly from the display.

Battery

Polini lithium-ion batteries are able to supply the E-P3 + motor with a continuous and powerful current, improving performance and reducing recharging time.

Two different types of batteries are available in the catalog.

The 500 Wh battery, easy to assemble thanks to its ergonomic shape, is light and small in size.

The 880 Wh battery was created in response to the market demand for higher capacity batteries. Strong point of the company, it brings autonomy up to a maximum of 300-350 km.

As an option, it is possible to purchase an original Polini Bottle Battery with an additional 250 Wh to be combined with the 500 Wh EVO battery, thus reaching a total of 750 Wh and ensuring greater autonomy for longer or demanding journeys.

The Polini Bottle Battery connects directly to the battery via a charging connector with bayonet connection and is distinguished by the new power button and residual charge LED. The completely revised design increases resistance against atmospheric agents.

Lights with double predisposition

The front light can be connected directly to the display with the special TFT 12V 0,3A display light cable available as an option (code 955.830.025); while the rear one can be connected directly to the terminal on the engine with and the ignition conveniently controlled from the display. 

With motor connection it is possible to install either 6V or 12v lights by setting the voltage from the Polini APP.

Pedal pins

Polini has designed for the E-P3 + engine three different pedal pins with isis attachment of specific width for the tires mounted on the different e-bike models:

- 137mm. road wheels

- 144mm. 3.5 "wheels

Overall dimensions and double crown

The lateral dimensions among the smallest in the category allows the mounting of a double chainring with derailleur for both racing bikes and MTBs, allowing a correct position in the saddle comparable to a bicycle without an engine. Thanks to such a compact and easy to position motor it is possible to have a 420mm wheel wagon on a road bike.

Lubrication

A hole on the crankcase allows periodic lubrication of the gears, ensuring stable performance, low noise and longer life.

Polini Bottle Battery 250Wh

Polini Motori raises the bar further by presenting a great novelty.

In response to the market demand for larger capacity batteries, Polini has decided to introduce the Polini 250Wh Bottle Battery in its catalog.

It is an original extender that can be connected to the 500 Wh Polini battery: the E-P3 + 2023 system is in fact set up for automatic pairing.

The new Polini Bottle Battery guarantees a further autonomy of 250 Wh, making the e-bike systems modular: in addition to the standard 500 Wh, the user thus has another 250 Wh available, thus reaching a total of 750 Wh, ensuring greater autonomy for longer or more demanding journeys.

Ready to use device

All E-P3 + 2023 systems are designed to communicate with the Polini Bottle Battery, which connects directly to the original Polini battery via a new connector with bayonet connection.

The system is set up to immediately recognize both batteries and turning on the main 500Wh battery, if connected, the 250Wh Polini Bottle Battery will also automatically turn on.

The display has also been updated to allow the user to see the remaining charge of both batteries on the second page of the menu.

For the correct functioning of the Bottle Battery it is essential to purchase one of the two cables available with different lengths (L. 200mm or L. 700mm) to connect it to the main 500Wh battery depending on the fixing point.

For the correct housing we recommend the specially designed Polini system cod. 955.520.024 to fix the support to the frame cover or to the seat post.

A big step forward in the world of assisted pedaling, which allows the user greater pedaling autonomy and the possibility of making more use of their e-bike in any type of path.
