Leonardo Paez, Colombian from Soudal Leecougan, is now the king of Südtirol Dolomiti Superbike, a 123 km marathon. Today, with a time of 4h43'30 ", he won for the fourth time the race taken from Villabassa (BZ) and so he is the most successful ever among males (2006-2016-2021-2022) in the marathon course, equaling the British Sally Bigham (2012-13-14-16).

A superlative poker of the South American, especially because he won in front of the world champion Andreas Seewald (GER).

The women's race also has its queen, an unbeatable Claudia Peretti (Team Olympia) dominated the 3 km rookie from start to finish (45h17'85 ”). Adelheid Morath (GER) could do nothing against the overwhelming power of Peretti who inflicted 7'48 ”on her, with Debora Piana on the third step of the podium.
A race to be framed, for the large numbers (2500 subscribers), for the splendid day, for the scenery of incomparable beauty of the Val Pusteria, for the usual impeccable organization, for the applauded location and for the many Olympic and world champions. and Europeans competing. The slogan of the “Explore the legend” event could not have been more appropriate.

The queen race of 123 km with 3400 m / dsl saw the best international interpreters of fat wheels at the start, and was very lively and uncertain until the last climb of Prato Piazza. At the first GPM at the Croda Rossa, the two-time world champion Paez was the first to cross the hill, closely followed by the reigning world champion Seewald and the Czech Petrus, while the Colombian Arias Cuervo and more distant the European champion Rabensteiner passed at 20 ”. The tussle started at 2000m in Prato Piazza, when after a series of shots and counter shots Paez put the turbo gaining about fifteen seconds on the German Seewald. Precious seconds, therefore, which allowed him to triumph with his arms raised at the finish line (+28 ”), a nice early birthday present since tomorrow he will blow 40 candles. The Seewald rainbow jersey did not have the "leg" to escape with the former world champion, and not even in the long descent that leads to the finish he managed to recover the gap. In Villabassa he finishes second, followed by the Czech cyclocrossist Petrus, while in the sprint the South Tyrolean Rabensteiner goes to take the fourth position.

ELITE WOMEN

The elite women instead inaugurated the new 85 km and 2360m / dsl course, an equally spectacular track that saw a single athlete in command practically from the beginning. A perfect day for Claudia Peretti (Olympia Factory Team), who immediately started strong on the first ascent proved to have a monstrous pace compared to the pursuers Adelheid Morath (GER), Debora Piana and Sandra Mairhofer, who formed a "train" giving themselves continuous regular changes. Peretti's advantage over the three increased dramatically with the passing of the kilometers, in San Silvestro she had an advantage of 2 ', then increased to 4' at the Baranci Refuge. Waiting for her at the finish line was an excited Marzio Deho, Olympia Factory team manager. The German Adelheid Morath broke her delays, deciding to break away from the trio on the last climb, leaving her "traveling companions" Piana and Mairhofer. With a nice smile he celebrates Peretti, breaking off by 7'48 "Morath and Piana at 10'22".

The elite women were obliged by regulation to compete on the 85 km course, while others (masters) tried their hand at 123 km, with Sara Mazzorana quicker to grab the first step of the podium.

85KM AND 60KM

The sprint in the men's 85km was electrifying. In the final straight there are five of them, two of Cicli Taddei (Failli and Casagrande) with Chiarini, Taffarel and Rosa. The last "centimeters" are all an affair between Failli and Casagrande who end up in order and get behind for nothing Taffarel and an annoyed Rosa. Team play has won.

The 60 km celebrated the success of Philipp Plunger from South Tyrol and Anna Urban from Poland.
The arrivals of the Südtirol Dolomiti Superbike continued until late afternoon, for many bikers the charm of the Pusteria race and the satisfaction of crossing the finish line are worth a lot of effort, regardless of the time trial.

[email protected] I am a fan of everything that has 2 wheels: at a young age I practiced road and track cycling (Italian Allievi champion). At the age of 18 I passed into the cross country competing at national/international level as an Under23. Past Elite, I made the choice to take things more lightly from a training point of view, and my love for gravity disciplines was born, training me as an FCI MTB instructor and guide. Now I have made passion my profession by managing 2 MTB centers on the island of Elba (Bike Center Elba and Elba MTB), creating the FANTAmtb and telling in an ironic but professional way everything that revolves around MTB thanks to 365mountainbike and 365TV (YouTube'PULITI dentro BIKER fuori').
