Peter Sagan suffers and proves he's not ready to fight in MTB: we all know his past, a real and authentic phenomenon, but now he will have to work hard to find the right leg. Always if he wants to and will have the right reasons. Peter finished the 2023 MTB World Championships in 63rd place, 7'14” behind winner Tom Pidcock.
It was a very good and tough experience and I enjoyed every single moment of the World Championships, on and off the Glentress trails. Thanks a lot to Specialized Factory Tacing and to the brilliant crowd for their support. Congrats to Tom Pidcock on his nice win today –Peter Sagan

The decision to place Sagan in an advanced position on the starting grid at the World Championships caused discussions: given his MTB ranking, he should have started in the last position but theUCI made an ad hoc rule the day before the race not to allow this. The athletes were outraged by the decision: not so much for the rule itself, but for the timing. Victor Koretzky he even got himself a fine for having shown his dissent at the arrival of the world championship (a bit too blatant in our opinion).
