Sagan has linked his image to that of Specialized for years: he left the Bora-Hansgrohe team and brought Specialized as a sponsor to his new team, TotalEnergies. But these two years with the French team have not been fruitful in terms of results. And this year he decided to end his road racing career.
However, the difficulty of earning a place for the Olympics also remains, given that there are no competitive Slovaks: he will have to be able to return to the top positions in order to physically compete in Paris. A problem that Van der Poel also has if he doesn't take MTB seriously.
