Peter Sagan will take part in his first gravel race, participating in the Unbound Gravel 2022.
The three-time world road racing champion will not take the flagship course, the 200-mile course, but will opt for the 100-mile version (167 km for 5.270 meters of elevation through the Flint Hills of Kansas).
Sagan, along with Daniel Oss, has already been seen on gravel in California and was part of Specialized's Diverge gravel bike promotion.
His appearance on Unbound is tied to his sponsorship deal with Specialized but, we all know, Sagan likes dirt. The 32-year-old has already spoken of his desire to switch to off-roading, suggesting it could happen once his road career is over.

The 200-mile Unbound Gravel event is the second stop for the inaugural Life Time Grand Prix presented by the Mazda series: last year's Unbound Gravel 100 winner was Stephen Hyde, while Lauren Stephens won among the women.
Sagan, after the race, will return to Europe to participate in the Tour de Suisse and, subsequently, in the Tour De France with the aim of winning the green jersey.
