France got off to a good start after the flop in Team Relay: after the gold of Jerome Gilloux in the e-MTB World Championship, Pauline Ferrand-Prevot arrives with a power victory like in the old days.
Beautiful first part of the race with the Italian Greta Seiwald who tried to break the race: perhaps a too aggressive race tactic but better to run in front than in the back. We hope it will be the first of many excellent races.
Pauline Ferrand-Prevot has always remained in the leading positions but without putting her nose out: the tactic of a true road racer. But with 3 laps to go, when the rain was starting to fall hard, the Frenchwoman attacked and none of her was able to follow her. Ferrand-Prevot opened a gap with relative ease and she might have gone on to win.
Behind Alessandra Keller is silver in front of the American Gibson who completes the podium.
