The BIKE CIRCUS 2.0 FOR THE FIRST TIME IN VALTELLINA
On 7 and 8 June Tirano and Aprica will host the long-awaited gathering of mtb enthusiasts, organized by 365mtb and by Destination Valtellina
Sondrio, 28 May 2014 - Tirano and Aprica are ready to welcome Bike Circus 2.0, the gathering of mountain bike enthusiasts who will compete on some of our spectacular high mountain routes on the weekend of 7 and 8 June. now in its second edition, it is organized by 365mbt and Destination Valtellina, with the logistical support of Valtellina Turismo.
The presentation of the appointment took place today morning, Wednesday 28 May, in Sondrio in the Giunta room of Palazzo Muzio, in the presence of the president of the Province of Sondrio Massimo Sertori, the president of Destination Valtellina and Valtellina Turismo Giovanna Muscetti, the director in charge of '365 Mountainbike magazine' Marzio Bardi and the director of the Cycle sector of Ancma-Confindustria (National Association of cycle, motorcycle and accessories) Piero Nigrelli.
«We are proud - said Giovanna Muscetti, the president of Destination Valtellina and Valtellina Turismo - to host this important event on our territory, which this year moves from Val d'Aosta to the province of Sondrio. This is an event that is well placed in the context of the numerous initiatives dedicated to biking that are successfully multiplying in our Valley. A formula that, on the one hand, is appreciated by tour operators as it allows the seasonal adjustment of presences in periods of the year normally characterized by a lower influx of guests and, on the other hand, it is appreciated by that particular target of more trained cyclists who love test yourself with the great 'climbs' of the Stelvio, Gavia and Mortirolo, but also for cyclists who prefer medium-low difficulty routes. In any case, a type of 'slow' tourism to discover the area, respectful of the environment, in the name of the natural beauty of our mountains and able to make people appreciate the food and wine excellences and the cultural heritage of the valley ».
"Thanks - concluded Muscetti - goes to the team of volunteers who for two months took care of the cleaning and mapping of the paths between Aprica and Tirano, with the involvement of the Aprica plant companies (Sita Spa and Siba Spa): Italo Corvi , Alessandro Negri, Max Polatti, Alcide Pancot, Gianni Moraschinelli, Luigi Volontè, Franco Cadringher, Antonio Meazza, Gabriele Meazza, Marco Mosconi, Renato Della Vedova, Mauro Repetti and Federico Pollini ».

The current and future scenarios of the bike market in Italy and abroad are very promising and constantly growing, as Piero Nigrelli highlighted: "In Germany alone - he said - there are 7 million cycle tourists and generate a turnover of 9 billion. EUR. If in Italy we invest in this sector we could have 18 thousand km of cycle paths and with cycle tourism produce a turnover of 3,2 billion euros. I am pleased for the important investments made for cycling in Valtellina and for the collaboration that has been established for the creation of the Bike Circus ».
On the presentation of the program of the two Valtellinesi days of the Bike Circus and the routes (Padrio, Tornantissima, Schiazzera, Anello Aprica-Pian di Gembro-Trivigno-Piscè-Aprica km 33, Magnolta trail or Magnolta-Palabione-Baradello trail), and on the aspects technicians focused on Muscetti and Bardi.
«We have chosen Valtellina - explained the director in charge of '365 Mountainbike magazine' - because it is a wonderful resort, full of routes suitable for all types of bikers. Our goal is to bring the large audience of two-wheel lovers to discover the area with its routes and its environmental, gastronomic and cultural attractions ».
The Bike Circus tent will therefore be set up on Saturday 7 June in Tirano in Piazza Marinoni, where the manufacturers of bikes and accessories will be present, and everything that revolves around the world of bikers with the opportunity to try and test materials; at 19.00 there will be a tasting of wine and historical Bitto at the Rivetti & Lauro winery - Palazzo Torelli -, while at 20.00 at the Parco degli Olmi there will be a pizzoccherata by the Accademia del Pizzocchero and tastings of Casera Dop and bresaola (cost of dinner , wine and water included, 3 euros).
Sunday 8 June everyone at Aprica, appointment in piazzale Funivia, a strategic point to connect to the ski lifts and to the numerous and varied tracks. In addition, the suspension maintenance and calibration workshops will be held in the Orobica tourist resort. From the city of Tirano, on the other hand, shuttles will be organized for the ascents to altitude, so as to be able to connect as many routes as possible in a single day.
