Michelin's presence in the world of technical soles dedicated to the MTB world is strengthened, where many brands have entrusted the French company with the signature of the soles of their new models for the SS21 collections.

ETNIES CULVERT AND CULVERT MID
For spring 2021 Etnies adds new models to the MBT collection co-designed with Michelin: Culvert and Culvert Mid. Among the most important features of the shoe is the Michelin sole which gives the wearer excellent grip on the pedals and grip on wet and slippery surfaces. The tread, as designed, offers adaptability and flexibility. The upper, on the other hand, is reinforced with the Force Shield lining and treated with Repel to keep out moisture, while the lining benefits from 3M Thinsulate to keep warm. It has been equipped with pockets to protect the laces. This Mid version is available in a stealthy and muted anthracite gray with a neon green color, while the low version is available in two colors - dark gray / black / red and black / green.
From this year all etnies shoes are BASPAT (buy a shoe, plant a tree), so for every purchase made, Etnies contributes a tree planted thanks to the collaboration with Trees for the Future.
ETNIES CAMBER CRANK
The Crank collection has been designed to be perfect for both MTB and BMX. For Spring SS21, Etnies has added a new colorway to the Camber Crank offering in light brown and nubuck.
Designed around a MICHELIN sole that offers the wearer greater grip, durability and allows quick changes of positions from the pedals to the ground and vice versa. The perfect mix of quality for those looking for a shoe with a sole with excellent grip on the pedals and greater traction on the most difficult routes.
Other features that make the shoe highly performing are the abrasion-resistant nubuck upper, gusseted tabs to keep out of the water and a pocket to store the laces
NORTHWAVE XTRAIL PLUS GTX
The new Northwave MTB trail shoe is able to keep the foot dry and perfectly insulated in every season, thanks to the waterproof and windproof PRISM S 3ly membrane. The MICHELIN sole has been designed by combining the performance that a MTB shoe requires but without neglecting the traction necessary to walk safely on any terrain. The midsole has been designed to allow the wearer to express maximum power in the pedal area, while the medial area has been made more flexible to give comfort when walking. The sole and outer shell are made of rubber which is more resistant to wear than TPU and offers excellent grip in all weather conditions.
The upper has a classic construction for greater breathability. In addition, the shoe has an easy and uniform closure system, with a gradual release, which allows a millimeter adjustment of the shoe in a quick and intuitive way.
NOTHWAVE SPIDER PLUS 2
The Northwave Spider 2 Plus is a shoe with an excellent grip and particularly light thanks to the presence of the Thermowelded Layer Construction which gives them perfect ventilation, ideal for the summer season. The particular design of the MICHELIN sole offers maximum traction, thanks to the small size of the lugs. The design is inspired by MICHELIN® tires, from the XCountry range, which make it perfect for tackling any terrain and with high self-cleaning capabilities. The MICHELIN outsole has been designed with the X-Crossbow double crossbow construction for incredible foot support and significant shock absorption in the heel area. The midsole gradually molds to the foot for optimal stiffness while driving, without neglecting comfort while walking, ensuring a quick response in any situation. The lace loops with soft fabric webbing reduce pressure points, while the heat-sealed internal reinforcements increase the protection of the foot inside the shoe. The Spider Plus is available in the new Anthra colorway.
NOTHWAVE CLAN
Dedicated to all those with a passion for off road, Clan is the flagship model of the Northwave trail line. The MICHELIN sole ensures unprecedented grip. Designed with three different components to provide total control of the pedals, while the rubber tread has been made with the exclusive Gecko + compound to offer grip in all conditions. The sole has a reinforcement both in the toe and in the arch to guarantee the wearer greater support and protection and, finally, a TPU, unique in its category, with calibrated rigidity plus targeted openings in the longitudinal and transverse direction for greater control and support.
The upper is composed of large breathable mesh inserts and heat-sealed TPU reinforcements on the toe and heel for greater impact protection. While the mesh tongue with custom padding combines protection and breathability. The SS21 season sees the arrival of the new white color.
TRIBE
The Tribe model features a suede upper with large breathable mesh inserts to offer greater freshness during activity, as well as the tongue with custom padding that combines protection and breathability. The MICHELIN sole guarantees excellent grip on the pedals and is instantly recognizable thanks to the skateboard-inspired design.
It is made with Gecko compound co-developed by Michelin and NORTHWAVE which guarantees excellent grip on the pedals and a thin EVA midsole for better shock absorption. The design of the tread blocks guarantees the wearer excellent traction on any terrain when walking. For the SS21 season the white color is available.
SHIMANO XC9 SPHYRE
Shimano's XC9 model is dedicated to x-country and cyclocross. It is a light and comfortable shoe, perfect for any off-road competitor. The exclusive Michelin sole minimizes weight and, at the same time, offers incredible traction and guarantees maximum power transfer from the muscles to the pedals. The lower overall height of the sole helps stabilize the foot when pedaling downhill. The carbon fiber midsole is very thin and this helps to limit the dispersion of power during the push phase. The shoe fits like a glove, thanks to the one-piece “surround” upper, tapered lower section, rounded heel and thin toe box. It is equipped with the BOA IP1 locking system that allows precise and fast adjustments. It is available in the new silver color.
