On the staff we also find an Italian, Marco Giarrana, who together with Valentino Wendel are the 2 CEOs of the brand. Born in 1983, Marco is on paper half Swiss and half Sicilian.
FAIR Bicycle has noticed that many high-level riders in the environment, who are therefore fussy about positioning in the saddle, found the fact that modern telescopic handlebars do not allow positive or negative movement backwards restrictive. This is due to the fact that, naturally, the stem cannot work curved.
So the team got to work to create kits that would fit with most seatposts on the market. A shell to be installed at the end of your seat post to move your position forward or backward in the saddle. Hundreds of seatposts were purchased and professionally 3D scanned with the kind help of the ZHAW School of Engineering in Zurich. This led to an intense effort to design a part that was compatible with all different seatpost shapes. Risers vary in the hardware used (M5/M6/custom), the width and length of the head, the angle of the head to the slide tube, and a number of other factors.
So it was necessary to take into account the different seat tube angles of the bicycles.
And so DROP BEST UC was born, a model produced by FAIR Bicycles, which meets ISO MTB standards.
Some riders may want to experiment with steep, crazy corners. Others perhaps want to slightly scale back the geometry of their new school. Or they have an older, perfect chassis, which with a little slacker steering angle and a little steeper seat angle, will be up to par again. The long-legged XC racer has her saddle all the way back and is trying to unlock those free watts by moving further back. You may also just love a particular frame with a very loose effective seat angle and need to adjust the saddle position to seat height.
There are many situations in which a positive or negative offset on a dropper seat post is very desirable: think of the many differences in saddle angle that exist between the full-suspension models on the market. The DROP BEST UC saddle clamp is compatible with almost all bikes equipped with a dropper post that uses vertical mounting bolts. With an offset of 27 mm, it can change the seat angle by 2° (example for seat height of 680 mm and starting angle of 76°).
High strength 7075 aluminium. The strongest, 12,9 grade fasteners, made in the USA. Swiss coatings for corrosion resistance. Totally independent adjustment of saddle angle and position makes installation as simple as if you were to mount your own saddle to the seat post. You can lower the stack height of your seatpost with the included spacers or use them to achieve extreme seat angles (Jaroslav Kulhavy would love that).

HOW MUCH DOES FAIR DROP BEST WEIGH?
A standard set would weigh around 75g. The DROP BEST UC kit weighs 139g (174g in the most extreme configuration with all shims installed). Therefore an increase in weight is not sufficient to discourage its use.
