BMC Fourstroke is a platform that identifies 3 different bikes: Fourstroke 01, Fourstroke and Fourstroke LT. The BMC Fourstroke 01 and Fourstroke are XC bikes featuring the all-new APS Dual-Link suspension with 100mm of travel front and rear. Carbon frame with the possibility of accommodating two bottles, progressive geometry and Autodrop system for model 01.
Between the Fourstroke 01 and Fourstroke, however, the carbon is different: the frame, in the FourStroke, weighs about 150 grams more. And the price goes down.
The LT version of the Fourstroke is a Mtb with 120 mm of travel, in short, more fun but with the same racing character. The "famous" XC model developed tending to trail that many brands are offering in the range alongside the more racing proposals.
AUTODROP TECHNOLOGY
It is the exclusive secret weapon of the Fourstroke 01 series. The first fully integrated automatic seatpost that allows you to lower the seatpost quickly and effortlessly, to push farther, faster and even on the most technical XC trails. With intuitive two-position adjustment, our lightweight Autodrop technology gives every rider a noticeable advantage in that decisive split second in a race.
As for how it works to make the seat post go down, you need a system that supplies energy: and they found a solution in compressed air. The only drawback is that it is a form of energy that can be stored relatively easily but runs out: the duration is about 100 activations (but we will see that in reality this is not a very serious problem because then the seat post continues to work. ).
BUT WHERE IS THE COMPRESSED AIR?
The compressed air is inside the down tube where we find a large carbon air tank, completely integrated into the frame structure, in which it stores air up to a pressure of 14 bar. To inflate it, the frame has a Schrader valve on the seat tube, on the side opposite the transmission. The technology was partly taken from diving air cylinders. With the remote control we can activate it like a conventional seat post or make it go down by itself with a long press.
WHAT IF THE AIR ENDS?
If the air runs out, it works like a normal seat post, which can be operated with the weight of our body.
APS CUSHIONING
Single pivot systems are the most used in the field cross country: simple and light. However, BMC wanted to continue focusing on its APS (Advanced Pivot Suspension System) system, with a clear change in positioning: from vertical to horizontal. The system keeps the mini bottom link behind the bottom bracket. It's still a virtual pivot system. With this change there is room for a second bottle cage.

BMC Fourstroke: differences from 01
Same geometry, travel and suspension system, but with a conventional 31,6mm (non-telescopic) seat post and a less valuable carbon frame (weight surcharge in about 150g).
PRICES AND FITTINGS
Fourstroke 01 it is available in 3 models and frame kit. The sizes are the classic 4 (S, M, L, XL). Fourstroke 01 LTD and ONE will be available from June 2023, TWO from October 2022 and FRS VAR1 from February 2023.
Fourstrokes it is always available in 4 sizes (S, M, L, XL) but 4 models. Fourstroke ONE is available while the TWO will arrive in April 2023, THREE from June 2023 and FOUR from September 2023. We remind you that this bike has a less valuable carbon than 01 and weighs 150gr more.
