In view of the 2024 UCI Mountain Bike World Series and a three-year period that will catapult Val di Sole towards organizing, in 2026, the fourth Mountain Bike World Championship in its history, the organizers of Grandi Eventi Val di Sole have studied some changes to the race course of the Cross Country, the Olympic discipline of fat tires.

On the final day of the UCI Mountain Bike World Series, Sunday 16 June, Cross Country athletes will face a course that has undergone numerous changes, aimed at improving the experience of both spectators on the trackside and in front of the television screens, with the implementation of new sections capable of enhancing the Warner Bros. Discovery television product.

The new route measures 3500 meters and not 4000, while the difference in altitude remains unchanged, 160 meters for each lap. The changes begin with the "starting loop", which winds through the lower part of the area, where a small ring has been created. At that point, the athletes will travel through the natural and technical area of the forest, where no changes are foreseen but only consolidation and arrangement works aimed at improving the smoothness of the terrain in one of the most iconic and challenging phases of the Daolasa route.

The most important changes begin with the main climb, shortened by a few meters, and the “drop” at the top moved lower. At that point, the riders will enter the Four-cross course, which will undergo some adjustments to offer a new passage of very high intensity also to the protagonists of the Cross Country.

The route then rejoins the arrivals area to approach a new climb, which replaces the old section on a slight slope and precedes the downhill trail, which will be completely revised from a technical point of view. The ending, so dear to Nino Schurter, which built many of its successes in Val di Sole on this stretch, will be made more spectacular and televised, with the possibility of witnessing a final sprint that is longer and more difficult to interpret than in the past.

“The new changes do not distort the track, but improve it from a entertainment point of view. With Warner Bros-Discovery we have shared a program of interventions that will make a further leap in quality to our path, already among the most appreciated in the world. The TV experience will be gained but also on the trackside, as the spectator will be able to follow very long sections of the route by sight, especially in the final part of the circuit", declared Technical Director Sergio Battistini.
