MIPS launches two new security solutions

Mips® Air Node is already Mips' lightest helmet solution, Mips® Integra Split offers maximum integration with helmets.

Mips, a leading company in helmet safety, today launches two new helmet solutions: Mips® Air Node and Mips® Integra Split. Air Node is built on the successes of the original Mips Air helmet solution, decreasing weight, increasing airflow and improving comfort. Integra Split is the next generation of Mips Integra, the most integrated solution, taking a step forward by shaping the inner lining while maintaining movement.

“These new solutions represent some of the most important technological developments in the more than 20-year history of Mips,” says Max Strandwitz, CEO of Mips. “While safety has always been the driving force behind Mips innovation, another important goal is to continue to improve Mips integration with helmets and reduce the materials used. Air Node and Integra Split are the big leaps in these directions. "

Mips Air Node

Mips Air Node features a new type of slide plane integrated into the padding and designed to slide, helping to reduce rotational forces when subjected to tangential force and, instead, staying in place when subjected to radial force. The padding is connected to the helmet by means of connection points made from brushed nylon, also known as tear-off fabric, laminated between the outer sliding layer and the sponge, exposed through open holes in the sliding surface, called Nodes. These Nodes in the padding connect with the tear-away fabric inside the helmet, avoiding additional attachment points.

Mips Integra Split

Launched in Q3 of 2022, Mips Integra Split works by dividing the innermost part of the helmet, the energy-absorbing sponge layer, into three parts: an outer layer and an inner divider layer made up of sections on the front and back. The dividing sections are connected to each other on the circumference of the helmet in a sort of lock and key (or interlocking) fastening. This combination of internal parts allows for 10-15mm movement in all directions relative to the outer bonded layer. Integra Split can be implemented in multiple densities of impact absorbing materials, and is optimized for fit and comfort.

Both Air Node and Integra have been tested and approved to the same stringent standards as all other Mips solutions. To find out more, visit the Mips stand at Eurobike, Hall 11.1, both in C11.
