The opening stage of the Superenduro National Circuit powered by SRAM 2016 in Massa Marittima took place successfully. To bring home the first important points of the season were the Valtellinese Marco Milivinti (Gb Rifar Team Mondraker) winner of the men's absolute with an overall time of 22'10.41 and the Emiliana Alia Marcellini (Team Cingolani Trek) winner of the women's one with the time of 26'36.81.
After the stop in 2015, for the Superenduro this one in Massa Marittima was a great comeback in the panorama of enduro races. It is an event that will be remembered as one of the best ever and the organization could not have imagined a better restart with a breathtaking location like Massa Marittima to welcome over 400 members from 12 nations.
Marco and Alia, in fact, had to fight against a large group of opponents, including the strongest national specialists and several fast foreign drivers all ready to take advantage of their every slightest mistake.
Just 6sec behind Marco closes an increasingly convincing Denny Lupato (Team Cingolani Trek), just returned from a shoulder surgery, but who manages to put his wheels ahead of Marco in 2 special stages out of six, 4 and 6 Third closes the fast Vittorio Gambirasio (Team Redbike Officine), who has always contained the gap with his opponents, suffering perhaps too much in the first special stage, but in any case accumulating a delay of only 16sec from the first. Beautiful also the fight for the place between the Italian Alex Lupato (Team Cingolani Trek) and the Swiss Gustav Wildhaber (Cube Action Team) respectively fourth and fifth separated by only 39decimi after over 22 minutes of competition, a whisker.
In women the race was even more exciting if possible, with 25 registered athletes, another good result of this first edition. On the trails Alia fought in close contact with two fearsome opponents, the South Tyrolean Anna Oberparleiter (team Lapierre Trentino Alè) second at 11sec and the Swede Louise Paulin (Team Airoh ION Santacruz) third at 18sec. The performance of Sara De Leo (Ancillotti team) was also very good, fourth at 22sec.
Another great first of this edition in Massa Marittima was certainly the introduction of the pedal assisted E-bike category, won by Giorgio Righi (Bad Skull team) and presented to the local press during the conference on Saturday. A formula still to be understood and discovered more and more, but which will give great satisfaction and above all will allow the enduro discipline and the places that will embrace this type of cycling to broaden their catchment area and public.
"The great successes are only obtained with teamwork and the feeling and the relationship that in these months of pre-event work was born with the crew of The Trail Brothers and Massa Vecchia Bike Hotel is incredible" he declares at the end of the 'Enrico Guala Superenduro event “behind the success of a race there is much more than an investment of money and time, there is first of all an overall vision and the common objectives to be achieved. This happened here in Massa Marittima and the result is there for all to see and is a real bomb ”.
