The 25-year-old Dutchman, 'explosive uphill' and looking for a balance between road and mountain bike, has confirmed that he has signed (for 2022) a 3-year contract with Jumbo Visma.
Vader intends to continue competing in mountain biking with the ultimate goal of a medal in the discipline at the Paris Olympic Games.
"We talked about the path for the next few years“, Said Vader in a statement from Jumbo-Visma. "Street racing is relatively new to me. I was running on the road, but not much. I can't wait, I breathe a professional air like never before at Team Jumbo-Visma. I expect to learn a lot and to grow as an athlete. A great milestone will be the Paris Olympic Games. I hope to win a mountain bike medal. The Jumbo-Visma Team is the perfect option to help me with this."
Vader was the best Dutchman at the Tokyo Olympics finishing in 10th place, also thanks to the debacle of Mathieu Van Der Poel.
Van der Poel, Pidcock and Van Aert are 3 great examples of cyclists who have found success in various disciplines and Vader will try to follow in his footsteps.
"We see a lot of potential in him“Said Merijn Zeeman, sports director of Jumbo-Visma. "He is physically talented. He is technically very good on the bike. Moreover, his personality fascinates us a lot. Milan are one who has a great desire to invest in themselves and can work well together".
"We think its qualities lie in the classics“Said Zeeman.
