George Egger and Natalia Fischer win the Mediterranean Epic 2022, with the latter taking the luxury of preceding the world champion cross country Evie Richards. It also features a lot of Italy with Costanza Fasolis (Leynicese racing team) in 7th place and the Wilier Pirelli Factory Team close to success with Wout Alleman, second overall. 8th the reigning marathon world champion, Andreas Seewald (at the end of the article the complete results with the placings of the Italians).
Georg Egger is half a surprise: German biker, bronze medal in Team Relay at the 2013 World Championships in South Africa. Specialized in Cross Country but in recent years he has not managed to go beyond good placings in minor international races, suffering on the stages of the World Cup (despite some top 30 in short track). This year the choice to focus on marathons seems to prove him right.
CONSTANCE FASOLIS
Costanza Fasolis, ranked 7th among women, is from Alba (CN) and has been an elite athlete for some years: physiotherapist as a primary job (she has a studio in Montà D'Alba). You started competing in mtb in 2014 after a few years in triathlon and running. She now she runs for the Leynicese Racing Team).
