Mathieu Van Der Poel says NO to MTB until the Road World Championships

Mathieu Van Der Poel is expected to continue missing major mountain bike races until after the World Road Championships in Glasgow on August 6th.

Despite planning to miss the opening rounds of the 2023 World Cup and apparently the XC World Championships, Cycling News reports that Mathieu's Alpecin-Deceuninck team said its race calendar in September and October could focus on XC racing .

Recall that Mathieu Van der Poel must also earn entry to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games as the Netherlands is not doing very well: he has until May 2024 to qualify for the Olympic mountain bike, as his nation is currently in 31st place.

We could see Mathieu take part in the XC World Cup rounds in Andorra, Les Portes du Soleil, Snowshoe and Mont-Sainte Anne.
