Cabirou won the 2020 DH World Cup, but has now entered a bad streak of injuries. His 2021 season was marked by an injury after a road gap accident at Les Gets (see video below).
Initially, doctors told Cabirou that she had a knee issue, so she finished the 2021 season racing on it. She bounced back late in the season with a 3rd and 2nd place finish at Snowshoe.
The pain had not gone away however and after further tests in November, he found that his knee cap was indeed fractured in the Les Gets incident!
After taking a month off to get her knee to heal properly, Cabirou revealed that she broke her back in an accident a couple of weeks ago.
“It wasn't the news I wanted to share with you to start this new year, but a few weeks ago I had an accident and I have a broken vertebra! I used this free time to enjoy the holidays with my loved ones. It's time for me to move on! —Marine Cabirou
We wish Cabirou a quick recovery to return to the top riders in the world! We remind you that the 1st stage of the World Cup will be at the end of March in Lourdes, Marine Cabirou's hometown.
