In the Grand Duchy of Tuscany there is a new regent, that Marco Aurelio Fontana who, having returned to his old love, the cross country, won the first Italian e-mtb Championship in the vast Ciocco estate, where the 'Living Mountain' extends for 600 hectares in the Serchio Valley.

The London Olympic bronze had greeted the world of cross country after winning his fourth Italian title in 2012. Today, with a “veni, vidi, vici” a la Gaio Giulio Cesare, the Focus pro rider has written a page that will remain indelible in the history of Italian mountain biking, in these times when power assisted bikes are experiencing an unparalleled boom.
But his was not a victory over velvet. Start from the Ciocco stadium and slips away Diego Benassi, the technical director of the Ciocco Bike Circle who knows about the 4,2 km track meter by meter. A powerful extension making the most of the potential of his Specialized, with Fontana and Fruet behind him. Benassi was then pursued by the two pursuers and due to a trivial incident he ended up on the ground. Situation that Fontana and Fruet have taken full advantage of, jumping to the command and dancing along the “hammer” flow trail, to use a television commentary term.
At the end of the first lap Fruet had a happy flick and the tachometer sees him first in front of Fontana and Furlani, but then the change of Fruet starts to get mad and, if downhill he has been able to dance fast among the trees and the parabolic, uphill his Lapierre could not fully support him. Fontana was waiting to take off all alone, with the engine of his Focus unleashing the 250 watts, maximum allowed, of power.
Then Marco Aurelio Fontana wisely managed the situation, even if in the last lap Fruet leveled on his bike and tried to hook up, but in vain. Fontana arrived wheeling across the finish line with only 3 ”, but enough to dress him in the Italian flag. Nice handshake between the two, with Martino Fruet as a reminder that Fontana found him in front of him on the podium at the Italian Championships in Pejo. For the third place, from the second lap onwards Vittorio Gambirasio managed the race with great authority. Behind finished the former road pro Riccardo Chiarini and then the revived Mirko Pirazzoli.
Among the “E-Masters” success and title for Roberto Fabbri (M1 - M2), Carmine Del Riccio (M3), Stefano Walter Panicucci (M4).
