Also in the men's race we can see the victory of the reigning Short Track world champion. This shows how fast the route was: 120km with about 1500m of elevation gain. This is the reason why many athletes of cross country were present and gave the marathon runners a hard time. Final average that approached 30km / h.

The men's race saw a large platoon in the lead in the early stages including the European champion Fabian Rabensteiner (Italy). The average is so high, as mentioned almost 28 km / h, that it seems like a road race, with Daniele Mensi who manages to return to the leading group together with other athletes.

In the final lap the brawl explodes with Sam Gaze who breaks the group and goes alone. In the final stages Andreas Seewald manages to get back on his own on the athlete from New Zealand, who, however, hangs up and wins alone with a 16 ″ advantage over the German Seewald (world champion 2021). Behind the sprint the bronze medal is played with Simon Andreassen (Denmark) who has the better of the others.
ITALIANS IN THE RACE
The best of ours is Fabian Rabensteiner, who finished in 14th place, in a route certainly not suited to his skills as a climber. Behind him, Daniele Mensi 21st, Riccardo Chiarini 38th, Andrea Siffredi 43rd, Nicolas Samparisi 55th, Lorenzo Samparisi 77th, Dario Cherchi 118th. DNF for Jakob Dorigoni.

Leonardo Paez, now an athlete that we feel a bit ours, is in 32nd place on a track not suited to his characteristics: "I finish 32nd this somewhat strange world championship, I was well aware that a world championship with only 1500 meters of altitude difference in 120km was not really that favorable for my characteristics. I made a mistake at the start and in such a fast race obviously I paid for it. It didn't go as I hoped but I gave everything I could and put my all into it as always."
