The Portofino Superenduro of 21/22 October is the most important event of the 2017 season, one of the most hard-fought and exciting editions of recent years
After the organization of a Superenduro Experience, an Italian Enduro Cup and the Winter Trophy, the organization of Portofino Bike is preparing to host a top-level race along the trails of Santa Margherita Ligure, the final stage of the national circuit with duels at the top of value and the crowning of the 2017 Superenduro Champion and Champion.
During the season between twists and incredible performances, 3 athletes took turns on the top step of the podium and at least as many, with constant results, have always been close to each other, gaining points and positions in the overall standings.
The result is that today, after 4 stages, 19 Special Stages for a total of 55 km and 8.600 m of difference in altitude of timed race tracks, four riders of three categories of different ages (SE3, SE4 and SE5) are crushed in less. of 500 points and the title of Superenduro Champion 2017 is played.
Two of them are teammates of the GB Rifar Racing Team and it is the revelation of the season Matteo Raimondi and the very fast Marco Milivinti. Matteo overcame and convinced everyone by overpowering the first two races of the season in Gualdo Tadino and Canazei. Marco, with points in all stages, is back from one of the best Italian performances in the Enduro World Series, 13th overall at the EWS in Finale Ligure and this speaks volumes about his state of form.
In front of them Nicola Casadei who in La Thuile, an EWS Qualifier race with a strong world flavor, brought the first important victory at Team CMC Cycling Experience in front of important names on the international scene.
First and current leader of the classification Vittorio Gambirasio Team Red Bike, certainly grown and matured in recent seasons, often unlucky, but who with two second places and a victory in Calestano has never been so close to winning the title as this year.
If in the master and e-bike categories, Cico Baroni (SE8) and teammate Davide Sottocortnola (SE6) Team Cicobikes already have the victory in their pocket, as well as the indomitable Bruno Zanchi Team Cpz Airoh Ion Santacruz (SE7) and the fearsome Swiss from Team Cube Action Team Gusti Wildhaber (e-bike), the same does not apply to the youth categories, with two athletes from Team Ancillotti, Simone Pellissero (SE1) and Matteo Saccon (SE2), committed to defending a primacy never given up during the season but which to be conquered requires a last well-aimed shot.
In the women's category, the current leader of the classification Laura Rossin GB Rifar Racing Team could sleep more peacefully if she had scored the first race of the season in Gualdo Tadino, but this was not the case and now she is chasing Jessica Bormolini and Bruna Benedusi ready for the final paw.
With these premises we are preparing to witness an epic battle, where every inch of the trails of Santa Margherita Ligure will be a battleground where you can push without reserve. It is no longer time for strategies, the games are now done and we must lead by giving our all.
For each of these athletes the goal is to win this last stage of the season and second round of the Italian EWS Qualifier.
Yes, because to complicate and make this race even more passionate there is always the high number of foreign participants, a constant in the Superenduro, but even more so at the Enduro World Series qualifying events.
At the Portofino Superenduro, in fact, there are already 9 Nations entered in the race.
The rest of the story will be written on Sunday 22 on the paths of the Portofino Superenduro where we are waiting for you on the seafront of one of the most beautiful places on the Ligurian Riviera in the company of our partners and exhibitors!
