Bad news for those who believed that RAI was making the DH race clear, because they found themselves standing in front of the screen watching the junior road race almost in full format. Let's not denigrate the road: it has its positive aspects from a sporting point of view, but it's a shame to see the snubbed downhill Elite in favor of the road Juniores (however we congratulate the Italian Sierra for the 4th place).
A real shame given that the DH was mentioned in the schedule: waiting and not seeing it really left a bad taste in the mouth.
The athletes of the blue DH performed excellently: in the men's field Loris Revelli and Davide Palazzari finished respectively in 15th and 16th place. Excellent results that make us proud of these athletes. Too bad I only saw them at the start: 2 athletes are not enough for an environment that wants to grow. If then we assume that not even RAI calculates the discipline on the spot, the situation does not bode well for growth but hopefully on individual qualities.
RACE REPORT DH
In the women's field, it's a shame for Veronika Widmann, victim of a puncture. While some good performances came from Gloria Scarsi, at her first international DH race (7th), and Eleonora Farina, returning from an injury (9th). Let's hope that today the Cross Country Races have more followers than the DH ones, otherwise we have no choice but to switch to Eurosport, which offers excellent quality content but, at this rate, DH will hardly be able to grow in our country.
