Kronplatz Bike Park and SMITH sign a three-year partnership

Kronplatz and SMITH announce a three-year partnership dedicated to the outdoor world. This agreement goes beyond sponsorship and reinforces the South Tyrolean destination's commitment to building an increasingly recognizable identity in the cycling world.

After visiting Kronplatz in early summer and seeing firsthand the work on the trails, services, and communications, we analyze why the association with a premium brand like SMITH represents a further step in the destination's growth.

SMITH has chosen Kronplatz for a three-year partnership. This agreement goes beyond simply establishing a brand presence in the area and clearly illustrates the direction the South Tyrolean resort is taking: building an increasingly strong, recognizable, and influential outdoor identity, including within the cycling world.

We have been to Kronplatz at the beginning of summer We had the opportunity to see firsthand the extensive work the destination is undertaking. Not only on trails and mountain biking infrastructure, but also on communication and, more generally, on building a strong local identity. This is a process we described in our dedicated article, which you can find here. HERE.

Because today, especially in outdoor tourism, having excellent trails and good services is essential, but it's not enough. A destination must be recognizable, it must be able to communicate what it stands for, and, above all, it must build credibility within its target community.

As we have already underlined in other articles dedicated to bike tourism, this connotation inevitably also passes through the partnershipsThe brands a destination chooses to associate with actually contribute to the project's perception: the more recognized and authoritative these brands are within the sector, the greater the destination's qualitative recognition will be among enthusiasts.

And it is precisely in this direction that the new agreement between Kronplatz and SMITH.

A premium brand for the Kronplatz project

SMITH is one of the historic and most recognizable names in the world of protection and sports eyewear. Founded in Sun Valley, Idaho, in 1965, the brand built its reputation on innovation in outdoor sports, first on snow and later in cycling and mountain biking.

In the world of bikes, SMITH currently occupies a premium position, both in terms of helmets and eyewear. The flagship models dedicated to mountain biking feature solutions developed with great attention to protection, ventilation, and comfort, in addition to the use of technology. Mips on many helmets: the system is designed to help manage the rotational forces that can develop in certain impacts.

Another distinctive element of the brand is, of course, its eyewear. SMITH has extensive experience in lens development and offers technologies specifically designed to improve contrast, definition, and terrain visibility in different lighting conditions. These aspects are far from secondary when it comes to mountain biking, where being able to quickly distinguish roots, rocks, dips, and changes in terrain can make a real difference in your riding.

In short, it's not simply a matter of placing a prestigious logo next to that of the location: SMITH brings with it a very specific positioning, tied to performance, technological research, and outdoor culture. And it's precisely this perceived value that makes the partnership interesting.

A collaboration that will live on the territory

The agreement will have a duration of three years And it won't be limited to brand visibility alone. With the start of the summer season, a calendar of activities will kick off that will accompany fans throughout the year.

There are events, product testing days and experiential activities, through which skiers, bikers and outdoor enthusiasts will be able to directly test the solutions developed by SMITH in the field.

This approach is particularly consistent with a destination like Kronplatz, which has invested heavily in recent years to develop an offering that can thrive throughout the seasons. While the area is already an international benchmark for skiing in winter, during the warmer months, mountain biking, hiking, and outdoor activities take on an increasingly important role.

For the bike world in particular, work on the trails is contributing to the construction of an increasingly structured and interesting product, capable of appealing not only to those already familiar with the area, but also to an international audience.

Not just trail: building an identity

This is perhaps the most interesting aspect of the agreement.

When we visited Kronplatz in early summer, the feeling was that of a destination committed not simply to adding new services, but to build your own identity in the outdoor scene.

Trails, facilities, services, communication, events, and partnerships are all part of the same project. And it's precisely the ability to make them communicate that, in the medium term, can make the difference between a place where you can go mountain biking and a real one. bike destination recognized by enthusiasts.

The association with a brand like SMITH therefore adds another step to this journey. For Kronplatz, it means partnering with an international brand strongly associated with outdoor sports and with a premium positioning; for SMITH, it means being able to use one of the most established Alpine destinations as a real-world setting to meet enthusiasts, have them test their products, and showcase their technologies.

A partnership which, at least on paper, appears particularly coherent: not only sponsorship, but a further element in the construction of Kronplatz's outdoor positioning.

And after what we saw directly on the trails at the beginning of the summer, the direction taken by the resort seems pretty clear.
