Medellín is the second largest city in Colombia – after Bogotá – located in the Aburrá Valley, a central region of the Andes in South America, so a truly picturesque setting for an Urban DH. Here is the replay of the race.
Local hero Juanfer Vélez won the second round of the 2023 Red Bull Cerro Abajo series, held for the first time yesterday in Medellín, Colombia, to take the overall lead. The legend of downhill Urban Tomáš Slavík had won the opening round of the circuit Red Bull Valparaíso Cerro Abajo on February 12 in the Chilean port city.

Vélez triumphed with an outstanding performance, beating compatriot Sebastian Holguín by 1,927 seconds. Brazilian Borba kept his nerve to claim third place 2,519 seconds behind, with colleague Gabriel Giovannini fourth and Chilean Pedro Ferreira completing an all South American Top5.
Velez said: “I don't know in which section I won the race. I went as fast as I could and gave it my all. This gives me a lot of confidence for Mexico and I'm thrilled".
Vélez now leapfrogs rival Slavík to claim overall command of the Urban DH Red Bull circuit. Next appointment Guanajuato, Mexico, Saturday 25 March.
