Jordan Sarrou will not continue with Specialized Factory Racing, the rider himself confirmed on social media, however not declaring his next destination (remember that contracts often expire on December 31st, which is why new teams often remain unknown until the new year).
After only 2 years, the Frenchman leaves Specialized Factory Racing which will be completely renewed in 2023, given thegoodbye also of Gerhard Kerschbaumer. Sarrou joined the team as XCO world champion and, although he is still one of the best riders in the world, he hasn't made the leap in quality that a top team like Specialized would have wanted. And if at Specialized Henrique Avancini arrives for 2023?
In 2022, Jordan Sarrou achieved 4 podiums in the XCO World Cup (his best result in a World Cup race was 3rd place, obtained in Les Gets 2021 and Val di Sole 2022). The 2024 Olympics will be in “his” Paris and Sarrou will certainly be looking for the best team to work towards this goal.
Time for new adventures in the coming years, first I wanted to thank the Specialized Factory Racing team for these years. Beyond the good results, we have built a solid team. I learned a lot about myself, met amazing people and made many friends. Thanks to Specialized for the opportunity and to the team that has believed in me these past two years. WHAT WILL BE YOUR FUTURE?
The teams that could have the budget for Jordan Sarrou are BMC Factory, his former team, and Scott-Sram. Team BMC had to let go Filippo Colombo towards team Q36.5 and therefore could need another top rider to work alongside Titouan Carod. Scott-Sram has not yet replaced the void of Lars Forster, given that there is no talk of a renewal of the Swiss athlete.
