In the first of the two days of the 2023 Italian Cyclocross Championships, on the fast course of the Camping Village Roma Capitol, at the end of the Master races, a first tasty taste of the competitive categories was staged: the Team Relay. Eleven teams (some clubs formed two formations at the start) with four relay runners each, mainly three men and one woman: one lap each and lots of adrenaline until the final round.

The reigning champions of the DP66 Giant SMP, who are actively participating in the Team Bike Terenzi organization, showed off an excellent performance and kept the wheels in front for a good part of the race, until Selle Italia Guerciotti made all the grades of the last relay runner Gioele Bertolini. Eleventh Italian jersey overall for one of the candidates for tomorrow's Elite success.
Behind them the fight to get on the podium was very open: Antonio Folcarelli in the sprint ruled his rivals and crowned with a bronze the golden day of father Massimo in the Master races of the previous hours. Both the four winners (Filippo Agostinacchio, Nicholas Travella, Sara Casasola and of course Bertolini) and Paolo and Alessandro Guerciotti together with Vito Di Tano were excited on stage.
Tomorrow the program includes, in the morning, the men's and women's junior competitions and the men's Under 23. Starting at 13 pm the show of the "major" female race (the Elites run together with the U20s) followed by the male Elite. The route is fast, it's true, but the weather can always become a factor and give some surprises. Furthermore, compared to today there will be two more boards about 23 meters from the start.
Finally, as Claudio Terenzi said at the end of this cyclocross Saturday, «many predictions can be made, but in the end it is the runners who make the race».
