The competitions in Val di Sole have not yet started but the Daolasa di Commezzadura race course is already buzzing with excitement for the most anticipated event of the summer season. From Thursday 29 June to Sunday 2 July, the eyes of the great Mountain Bike at world level will be focused on the Trentino valley, which hosts the only Italian event of the Cross Country, Short Track and Downhill.

The Trentino event comes at a good time for Italian Mountain Bike. Expectations on the Italian contingent are in line with what emerged at the recent European Championships in Poland, where Luca Braidot, before winning an important bronze medal in Cross Country, was also in the running for the continental champion's jersey.
“That of the European Championships was a difficult match due to the heavy ground and it showed real values on the field. Luca Braidot's third place is a great signal” – underlined the coach of the Italian national team Mirko Celestino. – “Clearly, even his opponents are no less, starting with Lars Forster and Vlad Dascalu. Furthermore, the French who did not take part in the European Championship should not be underestimated to bet everything on Val di Sole, a test that for them has trials value for the Paris 2024 Games".
“I expected something more from Avondetto, but he's a young boy who has had too many physical problems lately. Colledani, on the other hand, is an unpredictable athlete, capable of great exploits and counter-performances".

CT Celestino also focused on the condition of the Azzurri, who in Val di Sole aim to climb the standings compared to a European championship with lights and shadows. “Martina Berta didn't find the right pedal stroke at the European Championship, but she has the chance to score results in Val di Sole. Giada Specia, despite being in the first year Elite, is finding a good continuity of performance. Among the U23s, the best of the Italians is Sara Cortinovis, a very strong girl uphill, but with some problems downhill. She often tends to overdo it precisely to compensate for this limitation ”.

“Among the foreign players, Ferrand-Prèvot was unlucky at the European Championship, but she has good legs, while Lecomte seemed further behind in terms of condition,” concluded Celestino.
